Bay Waveland Garden Club

Bay Waveland Garden Club We celebrate gardening, conservation of natural resources and community development. Meetings begin at 9:30 am and end around 12:00 pm.

The 2nd Thursday each month, September through May. Organized 1938, federated 1939, the Bay Waveland Garden Club has 40 members who love gardening and wish to pass on their enthusiasm to future generations. Community projects include Mississippi Coastal Clean Up, Arbor Day activities, senior, youth and community gardening, Live Oak registration, Spring Pilgrimage, and exciting monthly programs.

Earlier this week we had 6 members of our club attend the 97th Annual State Convention in Natchez, MS.
I was proud to represent our Bay Waveland Garden Club. We received 19 Awards!(one Deep South award.) Our club was very busy this past garden year!
Sorry I missed getting a picture of James Del Prince with MSU Extension Coastal Floral & Martha Whitney Butler, owner of The French Potage` Florist, in Bay St. Louis, MS, both are members of our club.
Our club is hosting next year. Darlene Underwood will be installed as the MS State President!

The BWGC has joined the Hancock Beautification Team along with the Hancock Master Gardeners.
We are at it again! This time we are trying to beautify the Train Depot station in the Bay.
I don't have a before picture, but trust me, we pulled weeds, tilled, pulled more weeds, tilled again! Added soil, a Camilla tree, and approximately 16 Antique Rose bushes. We put down pine straw as mulch. With a little growth it will be even more beautiful!
Phase II will start soon!

We will be selling beautiful propagated plants at the Farmers Market on Longfellow tomorrow, 5/2, 8 am till noon. We have so many plants! Come see us!

Thank you Ted and Amy Longo for your awesome hospitality, April 9th. I can't believe I didn't get a picture of the 2 of you together, or the caterer. Our club loves coming out annually to your place. We had about 26 members.

A little late posting, but the Bay Waveland Garden Club planted a beautiful Magnolia Tree at the Dunbar Village in BSL for Arbor Day. This was the 2nd week of February. We have a wonderful group of folks. Not pictured are two that actually dug the hole, Scott & Lenora Martin. Thank you both.
The club has planted 3 other trees on the property since Katrina. They are all beautiful!

Our General Club Meeting is March 12th. Presentation is on Climbing Vines. Presented by Darlene Underwood.
Join us at 9:30 am for visiting & 10:00 am for the meeting. Enjoy coffee & refreshments. We will be at Christ Episcopal Church, Bay St. Louis, MS, 912 S. Beach Blvd. BSL.
