Hancock County, Mississippi, is seeking applications from qualified individuals to fill the position of Deputy Clerk – Justice Court
Position
Overview:
This position is responsible for acknowledging all affidavits, filing and recording actions, receiving and receipting monies, certifying and issuing copies of all records & documents filed in the Justice Court. Issue all processes necessary for the operation of the Justice Court in accordance with Hancock County policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist and/or attest to paperwork filed by individuals and others. Make case file/jacket and all forms relating to each type of action filed. Receipt proper fees associated with paperwork filed in the Justice Court. Set court date and issue proper paperwork to all parties based upon the type of action filed. Run Court Docket and assign cases to Judges. Assist Judges in Court each week. Enter Judgment/disposition form court into the computer in a timely manner. Issue proper paperwork on cases if needed after hearing. Stay in touch with Plaintiffs, Defendants, and Attorneys on continuances and any changes to the case. Keep active case files up to date on any changes. Assist with customer service at the window. Pull all case files 8 years old for disposal upon approval of the Department of Archives and History.
Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or its equivalent and previous experience in collections is preferred.
