FREE WEATHERIZATION PROGRAM FOR AEP & CENTERPOINT CUSTOMERS
NOTICE: The City of Bay City is only sharing program information and is not involved in approving applications or managing any aspect of this free program.

What if you could stay cooler in summer, warmer in winter, and lower your utility bills? As winter approaches, Bay City residents with eligible homes across can receive free energy efficient improvements through this Weatherization Assistance Program.

The Ark-Tex Council of Governments is sponsoring a Weatherization Program that can make your home more energy efficient and save you money each month on your utility bills. You may qualify for energy-saving measures that can make your home more energy efficient. Qualified measures can include: attic insulation, duct sealing, and caulking/weather-stripping.

Qualifications for the Weatherization Program include
- You must receive utility services through a participating provide: AEP Texas central, AEP Texas North, ATMOS Energy, Centerpoint Energy (electric), Texas New Mexico Power
- Must meet income requirements. Your income eligibility will be verified following procedures in the Texas Administrative Code Rules for Energy Assistance Program.
- Your home must pass an energy audit/inspection to determine if energy efficiency services are warranted for your home.

Due to the recent rainfall and current site conditions, the Brush Site will be CLOSED today, September 10, 2026.

Weather and site conditions permitting, the Brush Site is expected to reopen tomorrow during regular business hours from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM. We will continue to monitor conditions and provide an update tomorrow regarding reopening.

Manhole Rehabilitation... TX60 and 5th Street.

Beginning today, September 8, 2026, contractors will be performing a manhole rehabilitation at the intersection of TX60 and 5th Street.

While repairs are underway, motorists should expect intermittent closures of the inside lanes in the area. Work is expected to continue through Friday, September 11, 2026, weather and conditions permitting.

We ask that all motorists to follow all posted signage and traffic control measures, use caution and reduce speed when traveling through the work zone, and use alternate routes whenever possible to avoid delays.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as these repairs are completed.
