I got to spend some time with Retired Constable Tom Ward prior to the Super Bowl game. I have a deep respect and admiration for Tom. He served our community with honor and distinction for many years. It is very humbling to receive his support and endorsement of my candidacy, for Justice of the Peace Pct 6.

The bond between a Justice of the Peace (JP) and local law enforcement is the ultimate legal tag-team. It’s a relationship built on checks, balances, and a shared mission to keep the peace.

Why this partnership is critical:

The "Go-To" for Warrants: Law Enforcement Officers rely on JPs to review and sign search or arrest warrants. This ensures that law enforcement actions are legally sound and constitutional. I want to ensure individual rights are not violated.

Death Inquests: In many Texas counties without a medical examiner or coroner, the JP acts in a similar role. They work with officers at scenes to determine the cause of death—a vital collaboration for solving crimes. I am extremely familiar with these activities, not just with my law enforcement background, but while serving in Afghanistan my mission was to conduct Casualty Investigations and Reports.

Courtroom Actions: Law enforcement provides security for the JP’s court, while the JP adjudicates minor criminal and civil cases.

As seen above the relationship between the JP’s and Law Enforcement is extremely important. I know and understand the roles each plays. I also know how to remain in my “lane” and allow law enforcement to conduct their investigations professionally. I would assist and support them ensuring individual rights are protected.

I have spoken with local and state law enforcement and heard their concerns and suggestions. If elected, I will drastically improve the relationship between the JP6 court, county, and state law enforcement agencies.

Happy New Year! I hope everyone has an excellent New Year holiday. A new year means new possibilities, new goals, new dreams, and adventures. I hope all of yours come to fruition and are successful.

For about the last three months I have been working for arguably the busiest Justice of the Peace Court in Brazoria County. This has been an outstanding educational experience. I have been eagerly learning the JP’s processes, functions, and administrative procedures. The docket is just short of relentless. The judge has been very accommodating teaching me and answering my questions. Below is just an example of what has come through the courtroom since I began working for this office.

Debt Claim Hearings – Over 60 cases
Small Claims Trials – Over 8 cases
Truancy Cases – 15
Driver’s License Hearings – 2
Mental Health Warrant Requests – 3
Property Claim Hearings/trials - 5
Pre-Trial Hearings – Over 50
Evictions Hearings/trials- Over 15
Magistrates – Over 8
Jury Trials - 1

That is over 165 Court proceedings in the last three months. I am told this is the slow time of the year. I am looking forward to my continued education and gaining as much knowledge as possible over the next several months.

I greatly appreciate all the support I have received since announcing my candidacy for Justice of the Peace for Precinct 6. We have a few community events planned and upcoming. More information on locations and times coming soon.

Early Voting begins on February 17, 2026 at the Service Center in Bay City

The Justice of the Peace (JP) serves as the local judiciary, often called the "People's Court."
The duties, which include issuing warrants, presiding over minor criminal/civil cases (like small claims), and conducting preliminary hearings, are directly tied to protecting individual rights through due process and the rule of law. The JP ensures fairness and access to justice at the community level.
This adherence to the Constitution and the impartial administration of justice is a fundamental act of patriotism—upholding our core ideals of liberty and equality for all citizens. As your JP I would continue to uphold these values and traditions and adjudicate with common sense.

In June of 1987 I took an oath. An oath to protect and defend the Constitution and our way of life against all enemies, foreign and domestic. I have lived by that oath from the moment I raised my hand and swore to do so.

We are approaching 250 years in which our Constitution has remained strong and untattered in protecting our rights. Our Founding Fathers wanted a judicial system that is strong in protecting individual rights. A system that was fair and equal for all, no matter their standing in society.

l believe in individual rights. I believe in the Christian judeo values instrumental in the formation of our laws. I believe in our judicial system.

It would be an honor to be your next Justice of the Peace. If elected, I would continue to uphold these values and continue to protect your rights and our way of life as I have done for nearly 40 years. I will increase the ease of doing business with the court, support local law enforcement and our community at all times. When necessary, hold those accountable when they violate our rights and laws.

Sometimes holding someone accountable can be a simple light touch, and others may require a more robust penalty. I am prepared for either, dictated by the situation.

I believe with my decades of experience in the professional law enforcement and firefighting disciplines, coupled with over 20 years of military service gives me a unique prospective that will allow me to adjudicate with compassion, fairness, equality, and most of all....common sense.

Thank you for your support.
