🚧 SMITH STREET 🚧

Storm sewer install is scheduled to be complete by Monday or Tuesday of this week. At that time, all underground work will be completed for Stage 2, Joseph Street to State Street. The road crew plans on starting with the removal of old road base and moving towards rebuilding the road from the subgrade up as soon as the storm sewer is complete.

🚧 SMITH STREET 🚧

The contractor is continuing storm sewer on Smith St this week. The crews have made all connections up to the Bradley/Smith intersection as of Wednesday, May 13. Crews will be continuing west, working between Bradley and Dequoy, the remainder of the week. Once all the storm sewer structures are set, the contractor will set back up at Smith/Sidney and continue working on the storm sewer structures and connections east towards Joseph where they will tie into the existing storm sewer.

🚧 SMITH STREET 🚧

Water main is completed and all water services are connected to the new water main as of Friday (5/1/26). Storm sewer is being installed at Sidney St/Smith St intersection and crews will be working from Sidney St west towards State St over the rest of this week and next week. Once storm sewer between Dequoy Dr and Sidney St is installed crew will then go back to Sidney St and work towards Joseph St with storm sewer.

It's that time of year- hydrant flushing! 💦

City of Bay City Water Distribution crews will be flushing fire hydrants within city limits beginning Wednesday, April 29, 2026, until complete.

During the flushing, residents may experience discolored water. Please be assured the water is safe to drink. To clear the discoloration, run the cold water tap for a few minutes, or wait a few hours to let the discolored water pass by.

Flushing will begin at the north city limits on Wilder Road then continue south to the city limits.

For questions regarding the hydrant flushing process please contact the Water Distribution Division at 989-894-8321.
