Earth Day 2026 activities
around the Great Lakes Bay Region

As of March 20, 2026, these are the clearest publicly posted local or nearby Earth Day activities I was able to find (please check links/sources closer to the events):

Downtown Bay City – Day of Caring project — Friday, April 24, 2026, 8:00 a.m.–12:00 noon at the Washington/6th and Saginaw/5th parking lots in Bay City. This specific Day of Caring site focuses on planting grasses and plants in downtown beds, making it a nice fit for people who want a hands-on greening project rather than a drop-off event.

Bay County United Way Day of Caring — Friday, April 24, 2026, 8:00 a.m.–12:00 noon with registration at 7:30 a.m. at Wenonah Park, 103 Center Ave., Bay City. In honor of Earth Day, volunteers are assigned to cleanup and beautification projects around the community, including park work and nonprofit service projects; breakfast, lunch, and most tools are provided.

Friends of the Marsh,
Earth Day is April 22, 2026. How 'bout an informal and casual stroll through the Marsh this Spring with a small trash bag in hand? Be sure to take the trash with you and deposit it in an area trash bin.

While you are at it, enjoy the beautiful transitions in the Marsh and the waterfowl and bird migrations back to the marshlands that are starting to happen as we move from Winter to Spring.

Many hands make light work. Thank you in advance!

Birdathon is a fundraiser that supports Michigan Audubon. Here's why your support matters:

From tracking bird migration at Whitefish Point to using new acoustic technology at sanctuaries, Birdathon drives research across Michigan. Also, as teams submit sightings through eBird they provide valuable data on bird populations and diversity that guides habitat management. Finally, Birdathon supports local chapters that connect people to birds in their own communities.
