PUBLIC NOTICE TO BOIL WATER
Earlier today, the City of Bay City experienced a break in a primary water main near the intersection of 5th Street and Gloria. As a result, areas within the city are currently experiencing reduced water pressure. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required our water system, City of Bay City, PWS ID Number 1610001 to notify customers to boil their water prior to consumption (e.g. washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc…). Children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions).
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.
In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the public water system officials will notify customers that the water is safe for drinking water or human consumption purposes. Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will issue a notice to customers that rescinds the boil water notice in a manner similar to this notice.
Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.
If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact City of Bay City Public Works Department or Krystal Mason, Assistant Director of Public Works by phone at (979) 323-1659 or in person at 1217 Ave J, Bay City, TX. Texas Commission on Environmental Quality can be reached at (512) 239-4691.

WATER SYSTEM UPDATE - April 15, 2026 BOIL WATER NOTICE REMAINS IN EFFECT

As Utilities Maintenance Crews continue clean up and restoration work at intersection of 5th Street and Gloria Drive, a Boil Water Notice remains in effect. The City's Public Water System has submitted water samples to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for laboratory testing to ensure that water is safe for consumption.

The Boil Water Notice will be lifted once water quality has been confirmed safe.

The City of Bay City will provide updates as the situation develops.

Water System Update – April 13, 2026 8:39 pm

Repairs to the water main have been completed, and pressure is being restored. Crews will continue flushing hydrants to ensure proper system disinfection.

Boil Water Notice remains IN EFFECT. Please continue to boil water before use.

Some customers may experience discolored (brown) water. If this occurs, run a faucet for 10–15 minutes to help clear your lines.
