Wrapping up EMS week, we spoke with our amazing paramedic Michael and wanted to share a little more about him!
1. What’s your go-to coffee order? (Always the important stuff first.)
HEB Taste of San Antonio
2. Tell us about your paramedic background — years of experience, departments, or roles you’ve held.
My educational background is fairly unique as I graduated with a business degree in Management Consulting. That being said, emergency services were a better fit than consulting. I have 10 years of EMS experience including Firefighter, Paramedic, Field Training Officer, EMS Battalion Chief, Communications Management, and Flight Paramedic. I am also a graduate of the Fitch and Associates Ambulance Service Manager Program. Outside of healthcare, I own and manage a real estate development company that focuses on student housing in the College Station area.
3. Tell us a little about yourself — outside of work.
(Hobbies, family, what keeps you busy, etc.)
My girlfriend and I are Proud Texas A&M graduates (whoop) and Aggie Football fans who attend every Kyle Field home game. I also have enjoyed volunteering with the Houston Rodeo since I graduated college. Outside of work, I also enjoy spending time with my family and yellow lab (named Rodeo).
4. What made you choose helicopter ems?
(Why this level of care, why this path.)
I chose HEMS because of the diversity in call types and the level of care that we can provide to patients. I like dynamic environments and this job certainly allows me to operate in many different types of locations and situations.
5. What’s something you appreciate about this team so far?
As we are a newer program, I appreciate how open the team is to each other's feedback in order to develop and improve processes.
If you see Michael around or any of our other amazing clinicians be sure to say hi!
