Trimmed the low hanging branches on all the apple trees today and this was the apple clean up haul.

Pulled some clean eaters but the rest got spread in the field for the "locals".

We've had a few different deer frequenting the edge of the field to munch on them, including a young buck with a small prong rack in full velvet. Antonio (that's what we call the groundhog that lives here) seems to like snacking on them too. Pretty cute when he (she?) sits up and eats an apple holding it with both front paws.

Butterfly w**d in bloom. These plants are short and I've only found 2, I know we planted at least a flat of each variety so I'm not sure if I can't find them or if they've just not bloomed yet for me to see.

The Swamp Milkw**d is starting to bloom. 😍

We've got a wide variety of clover blooming around it. Some of it may have showed up naturally and some could be from a seed mix we threw down when we planted the milkw**d 3 years ago. It's thicker in the seed section than where we didn't seed or plant.

Our aim is to get at least 3 separate types of blooms a season for the pollinators. So far this season we've had dandelions, clover (it's almost over), now milkw**d and we still have goldenrod and queens lace coming.

It's official!

We are now enrolled in the USDA Conservation Reserve Program. Definitely have some learning to do but it's great to know we will have federal protections for the next 10+years!

Today's visitor. Jaxx was not happy about it at all. Daisja was just curious...but not quite as curious as she was at the ceiling fan when I turned it on yesterday 🤣. She gave it about 5 head tilts and then just stared at it for about 20 minutes...the fan, not the deer.
