🐬 Good evening, Coker-Wimberly families!

This is Principal Harley, and I want to take a moment to share a few important updates with you.

We had a great week of teaching, learning, and growing together! Thank you to our families for your continued support and partnership.

I also want to celebrate our scholars for doing an amazing job during our lockdown drill this week. They followed directions and practiced our safety procedures like champions. We are committed to keeping our scholars safe, and these drills help us prepare.

A special thank you to the families who joined us for our 3rd Grade Read to Achieve Information Session and our NorthSide Title I Night. Your participation and feedback are important to us. Your voice matters!

This week, we are excited to celebrate our youngest Dolphins during Kindergarten Signing Day! Kindergarten families are invited to join us on Thursday, September 17th at 8:30 AM as we celebrate our scholars and the dreams they have for their futures. We can't wait to celebrate this special milestone with them!

We will also celebrate Grandparents' Day this week. Information will be sent home with your scholars on Monday, so please be on the lookout.

And Dolphins, get ready! House Reveal Day is Friday, September 25th! We are excited to welcome our new scholars and staff into their Houses. We can't wait to see which House chooses them!

Mark your calendars for our Fall Festival on Saturday, October 3rd, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Be on the lookout for more information as we get closer to this exciting event.

Our car rider tags are in! This week, we will be reassigning numbers and distributing new tags. Please make sure you are watching for information from the school.

And finally, families, attendance matters! Please make sure your scholars are at school every day, on time, and ready to learn. Our goal is zero tardies and zero early sign-outs whenever possible. Every minute of learning counts!

This is Principal Harley with a few important reminders for this week.

Lockdown Drill
This week, we will conduct our annual lockdown drill. Please remind your scholars that this is only a drill — we practice these procedures so everyone knows what to do in the event of an emergency. Safety is always our number one priority!

3rd Grade Read to Achieve Parent Information Night
Tomorrow, September 10th, at 5:15 PM. If you have a 3rd-grade scholar, please join us to learn more about Read to Achieve and how you can support your scholar's reading success.

Annual NorthSide Title I Night
Tomorrow, September 10th, at 6:00 PM. Come learn about our school data and goals, help us shape our Family Engagement Policy and School-Family Compact, and share your voice. We'll also have giveaways and a chance to win a basket of goodies!

Dolphin Families, your voice matters, your partnership matters, and your scholars matter! When families and schools work together, our scholars have the support they need to grow, achieve, and become Better Than Before!

Hello, Dolphin Families! This is Principal Harley with your weekly updates,

I am extremely excited to share some BIG news with you! The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction has officially released the 2025–2026 school year Accountability Report, and our Dolphins EXCEEDED GROWTH!

Even more exciting—we are NO LONGER IDENTIFIED AS A LOW-PERFORMING SCHOOL! This is a tremendous accomplishment, and I want to sincerely thank our Dolphin staff, scholars, and families. It truly takes a village, and this achievement belongs to all of us!

But Dolphins, we are not stopping here! Let’s keep the momentum going this school year as we continue to EXCEED GROWTH and increase student proficiency. Families, please continue working with your scholar each night. Read together, ask questions, answer questions, and talk about what your child is learning. When we work together, we can continue to make Coker-Wimberly BETTER THAN BEFORE!

Here are a few quick reminders:

Tuesday, September 8th is Kindergarten Independence Day! We are so excited for our young Dolphins to take that big step and walk to class independently! Families, please drop your kindergarten scholar off in the car line, and our staff will make sure they walk safely to their classroom.

Thursday, September 10th is a BIG night at Coker-Wimberly!
At 5:15 PM, we will host our 3rd Grade Read to Achieve Family Night. This is an important informational session specifically for our 3rd grade families. We look forward to seeing you at Coker-Wimberly at 5:15!

Thursday, September 10th, at 6:00 PM, we will host our annual NorthSide Title I Night for families from Coker-Wimberly Elementary, Phillips Middle School, and North Edgecombe High School. Come out and celebrate our accomplishments, review our data and goals, and help us develop our Family Engagement Policy and School-Family Compacts. We will also have some exciting giveaways!

Thank you for everything you do to support our scholars and our school! We are so proud of what we accomplished together last year, and we are looking forward to another amazing year of teaching, learning, growing, and exceeding expectations!
