A massive thank you from Battle Ground PD to everyone who made this year's Indiana Fiddlers' Gathering one for the books! Great music and vendors, entertaining folks, excellent weather from start to finish, and we even got to hang out with Marshal Jerry Burk who came back out of retirement to run event parking!

Purely by coincidence, our officers happened to decide that the performance area "needed monitoring" right around the time the headliner took the stage, and witnessed Michael Cleveland absolutely kill it! (He escaped before charges could be filed.)

Fun fact about the two officers in this photo — one of them plays the "violin" (whatever that is), and the other plays the radio.

Battle Ground PD is honored to get to play harmony in the background of this fun, peaceful event. See you next year! 🎶

At 3:43pm, a semi traveling on State Road 43 N went off the roadway and spilled copious amounts of coddled rotten milk onto the lanes of travel near the 8200 block of SR 43 N. The vehicles have been removed from the roadway, but until the road is able to be cleaned, please find an alternate route of travel if you wish to avoid a negative life experience today.

We’re saddened to learn of the line-of-duty death of Corporal Blake Reynolds of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office. Our thoughts are with his family, his fellow deputies, and everyone hurting from this loss.

A reminder: when you see emergency vehicles, or for that matter any vehicle on the shoulder, please move over if it’s safe to do so and give them room. It truly saves lives.

🎃 Thanks Battle Ground! 👮‍♂️Well it wouldn’t be Halloween in Battle Ground without pumpkins shooting flames out of them!...

🎃 Thanks Battle Ground! 👮‍♂️

Well it wouldn’t be Halloween in Battle Ground without pumpkins shooting flames out of them! We had an awesome time on patrol this evening driving around and handing out candy. We went through a LOT of it this year!

We were impressed to see that so many of you spent some serious time on your costumes. On that note, did anyone happen to spot a suspicious looking Mad Hatter anywhere?

Due to the congested foot traffic and getting mobbed by miniature sugar addicts, we didn’t get to see everyone. If that includes you, flag us down and demand to see if we’re hiding any leftover candy in the police car.

Thanks for always making Halloween in Battle Ground such a great time! 🚔🍬

P.S.- We’d also like to give a special thank you to Macho Man Randy Savage for giving us some Slim Jims YEEEAHH!

🎃👮‍♂️ Happy Halloween from the Indiana State Police – Lafayette District! 👮‍♀️🎃

As little ghosts and goblins head out for trick-or-treating tonight, we’re reminding everyone to keep safety in mind:

• Stay visible with reflective clothing or glow sticks.

• Cross streets at crosswalks and watch for traffic.

• Drivers — slow down and stay alert in neighborhoods.

Troopers will be out across the district keeping an eye on our communities and helping make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable night.

Have a fun and spook-free Halloween, Indiana! 🕸️🍬

🚨 WINTER STORM WARNING – STAY SAFE, LAFAYETTE! 🚨

The Indiana State Police want you to be prepared as heavy snow moves into the area. Here’s what you need to know:

❄️ ABANDONED VEHICLES

• Vehicles left on the road prior to the storm will be removed for public safety and to keep roads clear for plows and emergency crews.

• Vehicles that slide off the road or are involved in a crash will not be removed once the weather becomes too severe, unless they are a road hazard.

• If your vehicle isn’t blocking traffic or creating a danger, it will remain in place until conditions improve.

⚠️ CAUTION TAPE? DON’T CALL IT IN!

• If you see a vehicle with caution tape on it, we’ve already checked it. Please don’t call 911 to report it.

🚗 DRIVING TIPS IF YOU MUST GO OUT

• Stay home if you can, but if you must drive, slow down and leave plenty of space between you and others.

• Avoid using cruise control, and give yourself extra time to stop.

• Pack an emergency kit with blankets, water, snacks, and a phone charger in case you get stuck.
