On Saturday, May 30, 2026, the Battle Ground Police Department was honored to participate in the second annual Move with MADD event. Hosted by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) in partnership with Target Zero, the event raised awareness about the dangers of impaired driving while supporting MADD’s mission to prevent impaired driving and assist victims.
During the event, our own Officer Braaten King was recognized for his dedication to impaired driving enforcement. This recognition was a proud moment for BGPD and reflects our department-wide commitment to public safety, demonstrated by a 44% increase in DUI arrests during the first quarter of this year.
Team BGPD is grateful to our community members and local businesses, including Battle Ground Seniors, for their support of this important cause. The event featured powerful remarks from family members whose lives have been forever changed by impaired driving, and victims were honored through a moving butterfly release.
The Battle Ground Police Department reminds our community that impaired driving is entirely preventable. If you have been drinking or are otherwise impaired, please do not get behind the wheel. Call a friend, family member, or rideshare service—there is always a safer option. The choice you make in that moment could save a life, perhaps even your own.
