We honor the courage of organizers before us.

Labor Day wasn't a gift. It was a political band-aid signed into law after the federal government violently crushed the 1894 Pullman Strike. When working people stood up against unfair wage cuts, they were met with military force. Instead of granting fair pay or safe conditions, Washington gave them a single day off a year.
