DOTD has issued an emergency closure for US 61 (Airline Drive) southbound at Ridgewood Drive due to a damaged traffic signal arm.
The closure is expected to last through this evening while crews address the damage.

Please avoid the area if possible and use alternate routes.

Beginning Monday, September 14, all lanes on I-20 between Exit 81 (Grambling/LA 149) and the Bienville Parish line will be open to traffic.

🚧 What to Expect:
Crews will be completing final striping and installing rumble strips as a moving operation.

Please continue to drive with extreme caution through the work area. Stay alert and watch for work crews and equipment along the roadway.

📍I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge Project

Behind the scenes, crews are hard at work installing and relocating major electrical and communications systems. A huge part of this process involves setting up the common duct bank and pull boxes—the unseen backbone of the bridge’s infrastructure!

Here’s how it works:
🟠The Duct Bank: Crews carefully route, secure, and encase utility conduits in durable concrete to protect essential electrical and communication lines from the elements.
🟠The Pull Boxes: Placed strategically along the route, these access points allow workers to easily pull, connect, and maintain cables in the future without disrupting the bridge itself.

Even though most of this work will eventually be hidden under the surface, these upgrades ensure reliable power and communications to keep our new bridge running safely for decades to come
