✨ Back on the Build Site ✨

We loved welcoming Realtors representing the GBRAR - Greater Baton Rouge Association of Realtors back to the build site for our Community Build, working on Kiana’s future home!

The team jumped right in and helped install insulation in the walls, a critical step in making the home safe, energy-efficient, and ready for the next phase of construction. 🏠

GBRAR has been a dedicated Habitat partner for years, and we’re grateful for their continued commitment to strengthening our community and supporting families on their path to affordable homeownership.

Thank you for showing up, lending your skills, and helping bring Kiana’s dream home one step closer to reality! 💙

🌟 New Habitat Partner Alert! 🌟

Join us in welcoming one of our newest future homeowners, Symonedesaix! Over the next 12–18 months, Symonedesaix will complete 255 hours of sweat equity on the build site and at the Habitat ReStore, attend financial literacy and home maintenance classes, and continue growing her savings as she prepares to purchase her very own Habitat home.

It’s an incredible commitment — and she’s off to a great start! 🏡💙

♻️🥫 Our aluminum can drive is in full swing!

Thanks to our amazing community, we’ve already recycled 250 lbs of aluminum—and we’re just 250 lbs away from reaching our goal and earning a grant from Novelis to support our mission of building safe, affordable housing.

Every can makes a difference and brings us one step closer to building more homes and a more sustainable future. Keep those cans coming! 💚🏡

💜🏠 Welcome home, Ms. Shirley! 🏠💜

Last week, we celebrated the dedication of our 20th Women Build home - a milestone made possible by dedicated volunteers, generous sponsors, and a community committed to affordable homeownership.

New homeowner Ms. Shirley, a proud grandmother of two, partnered with Habitat for nearly a year—completing financial literacy classes, earning 255 sweat equity hours, and working side by side with Women Build volunteers to make this day possible. Her perseverance and determination inspire us all. Many thanks to Commerce Title & Abstract Company for handling the closing.

A special thank you to Councilwoman Carolyn Coleman for joining us at both the Blessing of the Build in October and again for the Home Dedication. Your continued support of Habitat families and affordable housing makes a lasting impact.

💜 Thank you to our 2025–2026 Women Build supporters:
This year’s Women Build was made possible through the support of local businesses, organizations, and individual sponsors whose financial contributions and volunteer efforts helped bring this home to completion.

This home is one of four houses on Dayton Street partially funded through a grant of Home Investment Partnership Program (HOME) funds administered by the Baton Rouge Office of Community Development.

Volunteer Spotlight: Lynn Hitchcock 🔨🏠

When Lynn joined volunteers from St. Patrick Catholic Church Parish on the Catholic Build this spring, it was just one more stop in an incredible journey of service with Habitat for Humanity.

Lynn is a longtime Habitat for Humanity International volunteer who has helped build homes with families across the globe. Over the years, she has volunteered on build sites in Alaska, Hawaii, Fiji, the Dominican Republic, and many other locations around the world.

Her dedication reflects the true spirit of Habitat, bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope. We’re grateful Lynn chose to spend time on our Catholic Build site and share her experience and passion for service with our volunteers.

Thank you, Lynn, for helping build a better world, one home at a time. 🏠💙

☕🏠 Thank You, Starbucks! 🏠☕

A big thank-you to Starbucks for their hard work on the Catholic Coalition Build! The Starbucks volunteer team jumped in to help install insulation in the walls, an important step in making Mia's home safe, comfortable, and energy efficient.

And as if their hard work wasn’t enough, they also treated everyone on site to delicious Starbucks pastries, which were very much appreciated by volunteers and staff alike!

We’re grateful for your time, teamwork, and partnership in helping move this home one step closer to completion. 💙🏡
