๐ŸŽฃ๐ŸฆŒโค๏ธ At our Baton Rouge event for National Hunting and Fishing Day, we are proud to honor late Senator Larry Selders through a giveaway of a Youth Lifetime Hunting & Fishing License, which we have deemed the โ€œLarry Selders Youth Lifetime Hunting & Fishing License.โ€

โ€œSenator Selders was a friend of mine. He found a joy for the outdoors later in life and wanted to provide that love and appreciation for the outdoors to children in his community. I am honored to provide a lifetime of recreation in Louisiana to a child in the community in his memory,โ€ said LDWF Secretary Tyler Bosworth.

Senator Selders left a strong legacy of service and passion for conservation and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

The youth hunting and fishing license giveaway is being generously donated by the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation.

Heads up: attend any of our four National Hunting and Fishing Day events on Sept. 26 for a chance to win a FREE youth hunting and fishing license, which have been provided by a few generous sponsors! ๐ŸŽ‰

๐ŸŒณ๐ŸฆŒ September is National Tree Stand Safety Month!

As hunters prepare for deer season, make sure the right safety equipment is part of your gear. A properly fitted full-body harness and lifeline can make all the difference when hunting from an elevated stand.

โš ๏ธ Tree stand safety statistics show that

Before you climb:
โœ”๏ธ Wear a full-body safety harness.
โœ”๏ธ Use a lifeline or other approved fall-arrest system.
โœ”๏ธ Stay connected from the moment you leave the ground until you return safely.
โœ”๏ธ Inspect your stand, straps and safety equipment before every use.
โœ”๏ธ Use a haul line to raise and lower your firearm, bow and other gear.

The most important piece of safety equipment is the one you actually use. Gear up, stay connected and make safety part of every hunt.
