The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission has officially established ๐๐ผ๐ผ๐ฐ๐ต๐ถ๐ฒ ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฒ ๐ช๐ ๐, opening ๐ญ,๐ด๐ต๐ฐ ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ ๐ถ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐๐๐ต๐๐ฒ๐๐ ๐ช๐ถ๐ป๐ป ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ต to new public hunting, outdoor recreation and conservation opportunities; where you can learn a lot about living and a little 'bout love. ๐
Created through a partnership between LDWF and the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism-Office of State Parks, the new WMA was previously known as ๐๐ผ๐ผ๐ฐ๐ต๐ถ๐ฒ ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ. The property consists primarily of cypress swamp, and transitions to upland habitats characteristic of the area.
Beginning ๐ข๐ฐ๐. ๐ญ, Coochie Brake WMA will offer public hunting opportunities, including ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ๐-๐ผ๐ป๐น๐ ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ต๐๐ป๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด, ๐ฑ๐๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ต๐๐ป๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด, ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐บ๐ฎ๐น๐น ๐ด๐ฎ๐บ๐ฒ ๐ต๐๐ป๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด.

Once considered an โimpenetrable barrier,โ the rugged landscape has captivated generations with legends of curses, outlaws, moonshiners and eerie woods. Its colorful past has even inspired music celebrating Coochie Brake and the stories surrounding it.
