Congratulations to Jennifer Fontenot on being selected as District Manager for the Lake Charles District Office. District Manager Fontenot will assume her position effective Monday, May 13, 2024. Jennifer began her career with the Division in 2003. She has successfully served as a supervisor for the Lake Charles District and has been a member of multiple committees throughout her career. Her knowledge and experience will assist in her continued success as the new Lake Charles District Manager.

Congratulations to Raymond Laborde Correctional Center Warden Marcus Myers and Rayburn Correctional Center Assistant Warden Darryl Mizell. Both received the Charles E. Dunbar, Jr. Career Civil Service Award, the state's highest honor, recognizing the tremendous contributions made to the state of Louisiana by classified employees.

Warden Myers has been a Corrections employee since 1991. He has been a mentor to his staff as well as the inmate population with words of encouragement to strive forward and the motivation to achieve goals set before them. Looking at his career accomplishments, one can only be impressed with his persistent work ethic and unceasing dedication to his service to the state of Louisiana. Warden Myers is never one to make excuses but always looking for a solution when problems arise.

Warden Mizell has worked for Corrections for 28 years. During his career he has worked almost every assignment throughout the compound, becoming a well-rounded, effective officer proving himself to be an asset to the institution. In addition to serving the state of Louisiana, he has also volunteered his personal time and resources to assist the charitable organization, Make-A-Smile. Through this organization, he has helped build and repair playgrounds and baseball fields in communities across the country, benefiting countless children.

Jerry has over fifteen years of experience with the Department of Corrections and Probation and Parole. He has served as an Agent in Covington District and Program Manager at Headquarters in both the NCIC/Warrants and Interstate Compact Divisions. Please give Jerry your full support and cooperation as he adjusts to this new role.
