Fire Chaplains of Maine and the Federation of Fire Chaplains are blessed to announce the Essentials of Fire Chaplaincy. Its a founal training designed to equimp individuals with the core knowledge and skills needed to help effectively within the fire serivce. This 16-hour course, typically delivered over two days, covers a range of essential topics, including the history of chaplaincy, the personhood of the chaplain, ministry to firefighters and crisis victims, and critical incident stress management. All proceeds go to the Minnehaha Fire Co, run by Boothbay Harbor firefighters. All funds are used to purchase tools, equipment and safety gear.

A project looking at PFAS in and from firefighting in Maine has just published, incorporating results from a survey completed by more than 75 fire departments last summer. The project landing page includes the survey highlights, along with three articles, two videos and a “resources” sheet with information for departments and a small printable poster. A larger poster will be distributed next year.
