Do you check for ticks daily? A daily tick check is important to help prevent tickborne diseases. Use tweezers or a tick spoon and make sure to check all over your body for tiny ticks. Find more information at www.maine.gov/dhhs/vectorborne.

🏠 Aging in Place support is available!

Many older adults want to remain in their own homes for as long as possible. The good news is that a variety of in-home services can help make that goal a reality.

Depending on a person's needs, home care services may provide assistance with:

✅ Personal care and daily activities
✅ Meal preparation and light housekeeping
✅ Transportation and errands
✅ Medication reminders
✅ Companionship and social connection
✅ Support for family caregivers

For individuals recovering from illness, managing a disability, or simply needing a little extra help, home-based services can often improve safety, independence, and quality of life.

One provider serving Maine residents is FCP Live-In, which specializes in live-in home care for older adults who wish to remain in the safety and comfort of their own homes. Their caregivers provide one-on-one support tailored to each client's needs, helping individuals maintain independence while giving families additional peace of mind. For more information, please contact Newton Dubs at [email protected] or (866) 559-9492.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the men and women from Sagadahoc County and across the country who gave their lives in service to others.

Their sacrifice made our communities, freedoms, and everyday moments possible. As we gather with family and friends this weekend, we remember those who never made it home.

Please take a moment to reflect, remember, and honor the fallen. 🇺🇸

Browntail moth season is active across Maine, and exposure to the caterpillars’ tiny toxic hairs can cause an itchy rash similar to poison ivy. For some people, the hairs may also trigger coughing, breathing irritation, or other respiratory symptoms. Even after the caterpillars are gone, the hairs can remain in leaves, brush, grass, woodpiles, and outdoor spaces for months.

If you’re spending time outside or doing spring cleanup, consider these precautions:

• Wet down leaves and debris before raking or mowing
• Wear long sleeves, gloves, eye protection, and a mask during yardwork
• Avoid mowing or leaf blowing on dry, windy days
• Shower and change clothes after outdoor work
• Dry laundry indoors if you live near infested trees
• Keep an eye out for browntail moth webs in oak, apple, crabapple, cherry, and other hardwood trees

Removing winter webs while they are still reachable can help reduce future caterpillar populations.
