We are excited to announce that we have joined the Brunswick Area Volunteerism Collaborative, led by United Way of Mid Coast Maine, Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program, Mid Coast Literacy, Midcoast New Mainers Group, Tedford Housing, Bowdoin College Joseph McKeen Center for the Common Good, and Rotary Club of Brunswick Maine. This collaborative works together on volunteer recruitment, retention, education, training and appreciation. We believe that we are stronger in our mission of creating a culture of volunteerism in the Brunswick Area by working together to aggregate resources, and support each other. We hope you will join us at future events!

Please help us achieve our $1.29 million fundraising goal for the United Way Community Fund. The Fund supports United Way and more than 50 local non-profit programs to help nearly 41,000 individuals and families throughout the Midcoast. With support from the community, we can achieve our collective goal to give kids the best start, build financial stability, and help everyone live healthy and connected lives.

We are incredibly grateful for the strong support we have already received from many donors, local businesses, and organizations. It is essential that we meet our fundraising goal, because today, the need to support our community is greater than ever before. By working together, we can help people thrive, not just survive.

By making just one donation to United Way, people can help family members, friends, neighbors, and co-workers:
• Access safe shelter, food, affordable healthcare, and high-quality childcare;
• Reduce homelessness, prevent violence and abuse, and strengthen families; and
• Ensure vulnerable youth, adults, and seniors are supported and connected.

To make a donation, please visit uwmcm.org/donate; text the word DONATE2UW to 41444; give via Venmo ; call 207-443-9752; or send a gift to 34 Wing Farm Parkway, #201, Bath, ME 04530. Thank you for your consideration!

In Our Supporters’ Words: Connection Through Community at United Way
“I think United Way sits in the right role of seeing and responding to community needs, and of developing community assets. There is a benefit of being that organization that sees the bigger picture and helps bring people together.” –Pam Gerbi

Today we are feeling hopeful for the preliminary Maine Integrated Youth Health Survey Results! This morning, we learned some initial findings from MIYHS in Sagadahoc County schools. We still have some work to do but thanks to our incredible community we are investing in youth's protective factors in the right way, and seeing results!

What are you hopeful for?

The term ALICE refers to: Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. In plain terms, that describes people who have jobs, but don’t make enough money to afford basic life necessities. Some 29 percent of Americans fall into this category. Why do so many people find themselves in this situation—and what programs and resources aim to help them?

Check out the recent Calling interview for more info and to hear from our Executive Director, Nicole, on how we're helping ALICE families in our community.
