Sharing this from a Village resident! Well said Becca Conrad!
Lately, there’s been a lot of commentary surrounding grant funding, community development efforts, and small business initiatives in our village and town. While everyone is entitled to their opinions, it’s important to recognize the people behind these projects. The individuals working tirelessly every day to create opportunities, revitalize spaces, support local businesses, and strengthen our community.
These efforts don’t happen overnight, and they certainly don’t happen without long hours, sacrifice, persistence, and passion. From business owners and volunteers to project leaders, staff, and community partners, so many people dedicate their time and energy to building something positive for the future of our village.
This isn’t about politics. It’s about community. No matter our differences, we all benefit when neighborhoods grow, local businesses succeed, and opportunities are created for the people who live here. Progress happens when people come together, work collaboratively, and focus on solutions instead of division.
Small businesses and non-for-profit programs are the heart of our communities. They create jobs, bring people together, support local economies, and help give neighborhoods their identity and character. The work being done behind the scenes often goes unseen, but it matters deeply.
If you want to see change, be the change you wish to see. Get involved. Volunteer. Show up to meetings. Support local businesses. Be your own advocate. Be a constructive voice in the conversations happening around these programs and incubator projects while the discussions are happening in real time.
Communities grow stronger when people participate, collaborate, and work toward solutions together, rather than, simply voice disparaging commentary in a Facebook thread that leads nowhere.
To everyone continuing to push forward despite challenges and criticism: thank you. Your hard work, resilience, and commitment do not go unnoticed, and the impact you make reaches farther than you may realize.
