COURTESY OF BATESVILLE BULLDOG GOLF:

Congratulations to Batesville senior Jon Moody on winning the 2026 IHSAA Boys Golf Mental Attitude Award presented by Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance!

This award is a tradition following each state championship sporting event. This award is presented by the IHSAA Executive Committee to one senior who best demonstrates excellence in mental attitude, scholarship, leadership, and athletic ability during their high school career.

Jon is only the fourth person in Batesville school history to receive this award. However, this marks back-to-back winners of this award for the Batesville Golf program, as senior Ava South (girls golf) won this award in the fall of this 2025-2026 school year.

Pictured in the photo attached is Jon's father, Ryan Moody, Jon, and his mother, Mari Jo Moody.

Way to go, Jon!

At today's school board meeting, representatives from the Batesville High School Class of 1976 presented a check for $7600 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of their high school graduation. These funds will be used at BHS to purchase bench seating around the new tennis courts, along with an electronic display monitor at the outdoor athletic area's ticket booth. Thank you to these alumni for thinking of us!

$1 million ✅ Thank you, BCEF, for all you do for our school corporation!

WE DID IT! $1 million given to the Batesville Community School Corporation and its students and staff!

With our 2026 recipient checks dropped in the mail today, our awarded scholarships now total $272,000. Add that to the more than $750,000 in BCEF grants and the other programs at BCSC, and you get ONE MILLION DOLLARS!

From our modest beginnings during the 2007-08 school year to our more recent large projects like the BIS STEAM Lab, the BPS Outdoor Learning Complex, the BHS Student Success Center, and the BMS EcoLab, plus our support of Bulldog Ready, our goals have grown.

What's still the same? Our mission to provide innovative learning opportunities that go beyond the basics for our Batesville Bulldogs.

Thank you to everyone who made this possible! Today, all of us at BCEF are more than a little proud of this accomplishment.

Please help us welcome Patrick Maschino to the Batesville Bulldog family!

Patrick Maschino will serve Batesville Primary School (BPS) as its assistant principal, joining the administrative team at the Batesville Community School Corporation (BCSC). Most recently, Maschino taught at various elementary levels within the Madison Consolidated School Corporation while earning his master’s degree in school administration and obtaining his school administration certification.

Besides his 10 years in the classroom, Maschino brings to BPS an extensive list of educational leadership experiences. He has gained valuable administrative knowledge by serving on technology, curriculum, and virtual learning committees. In addition, he mentored under previous principals, assisting them with handbook revisions and general school improvements. He also stepped in as a substitute principal during absences to learn first-hand about school administration.

“Patrick Maschino was a clear favorite with the members of the interview selection committee,” explained Kindra Moore, incoming BPS principal. “In addition to his professional experience, his upbeat personality and ability to meaningfully connect with both students and adults make him an excellent fit. He comes to Batesville with glowing recommendations, so we are excited to have him join our team.”

Maschino received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Indiana State University in 2015. His master’s degree was obtained from Indiana Wesleyan University in February of 2025. Before teaching in Madison, he taught fourth and fifth grade in Columbus, Indiana. He has also coached football and track and field at the middle school and high school levels.

The incoming assistant principal and his wife, Erika (Stanley) Maschino, a Greensburg native, have two daughters, Palmer (third grade) and Emmy (first grade). His hobbies include spending time with his family and friends, running and being active, and attending sporting events. His favorite sports teams include Purdue and the Pittsburgh Steelers. They plan to relocate to the Batesville area.

“I am beyond excited to be welcomed into the Bulldog family and the Batesville community,” Maschino said. “It is an honor to be able to serve the students and families that make up BPS. I am looking forward to building relationships with our staff, students, and community while making a positive impact and difference.”

Maschino joins Moore, who was appointed earlier this year to lead the school beginning with the 2026-27 school year. She replaced long-time BPS leader Brad Stoneking, who will now be the principal at Batesville High School.

🇺🇸 Batesville is getting a patriotic makeover! 🇺🇸

This summer, Batesville Middle School students have created original patriotic artwork inspired by our community and America's 250th anniversary.

The selected pieces will be displayed in businesses, storefronts, and public spaces throughout the city from mid-May through July 4th, turning Batesville into a community art gallery!

Take some time to explore town, check out the student artwork, and celebrate the creativity of our BMS students. ❤️🤍💙
