The packs delivered through the Weekend Backsack Program and Turnover Hunger are filled with shelf-stable, kid-friendly foods like cereal, granola bars, fruit cups, applesauce, and more. ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ’

Each bag costs about $20 to fill and contains enough food for a full weekend. That's just $4 per meal to give a student nourishment, energy, and peace of mind.

Join the Batesville and Milan football teams in their pursuit to Turnover Hunger in Ripley County elementary schools! Donate or pledge today at https://rccfonline.org/impact/initiatives/turnover-hunger/

Funds collected are distributed to South Ripley Community Schools, Jac-Cen-Del Community School Corporation, Batesville Community School Corporation, Milan Community Schools, and Sunman Elementary School.

We are thrilled to announce the Ripley County Fire Readiness & Resilience Grant Program, made possible through the leadership and $100,000 financial commitment of the Ripley County Council. ๐Ÿš’

This countywide initiative strengthens all 10 of our local volunteer fire departments by funding critical safety gear, operational readiness, and NFPA-compliant equipment.

First Round Grant Recipients ($10,000 each):
Friendship VFD: New tires for 3 emergency response vehicles to ensure safe mutual aid responses.

New Marion Volunteer Fire Department, Inc.: 18 NFPA-compliant firefighting helmets and 7 pairs of structural boots.

Osgood Volunteer Fire Department: Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) air cylinders for reliable air during extended calls.

Versailles Fire Rescue: 3 new sets of turnout gear to replace outdated equipment for a department responding to 600+ calls annually.

Sunman Rural Fire Department: A remote-operated master stream apparatus on Engine 1118 to keep firefighters safe on the ground during hazardous conditions.

When one department gains safer equipment, our entire emergency response network grows stronger. Thank you to the Ripley County Council and our dedicated volunteer firefighters who answer the call day and night! ๐Ÿ‘

Applications for the next round of funding from remaining local departments are currently underway.

Last Wednesday, August 26, 2026, the Ripley County Community Foundation stopped by the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. to drop off a grant award from the Cross Plains Community Fund. We would like to thank the board for supporting our project and making this grant possible. Also, a big thank you for the RCCF for managing the process. We will be using the funds to improve our water supply capability.

In Ripley County, 1 in 7 children face food insecurity, meaning weekends can feel long, empty, and uncertain. Through Turnover Hunger, weโ€™re working to change that, one meal at a time. ๐ŸŽ’๐ŸŽ

Tonight, Milan Community Schools and Batesville Bulldog Football face off on the field, and while theyโ€™ll be competing hard for the win, both teams are playing for the same cause off the field: ending childhood hunger in our community!

Thanks to the Milan and Batesville High School football teams, and incredible community support, we've already made a powerful impact. But with over 225 local students relying on the Weekend Backsack Program when school isnโ€™t in session, the need is growing.

As the 2026 season kicks off, you can help us turn over hunger for good:
โœ… Make a flat donation, or
โœ… Pledge an amount for every turnover the Milan or Batesville football teams force this season!

No child should have to worry about their next meal. ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Support the cause at at https://rccfonline.org/impact/initiatives/turnover-hunger/

Funds collected are distributed to South Ripley Community Schools, Jac-Cen-Del Community School Corporation, Batesville Community School Corporation, Milan Community Schools, and Sunman Elementary School.

๐Ÿ’™ Honoring Dolly Parton and a Legacy That Will Live On

Ripley County joined Dolly Partonโ€™s Imagination Library in 2023 with a simple but powerful purpose: to give our children the best possible start in life through the gift of books.

Inspired by Dollyโ€™s own father, who could not read or write, the Imagination Library grew into an extraordinary legacy of literacy, opportunity and a love of learning for children around the world.

While our hearts are incredibly sad today, we are more inspired than ever to continue this important mission right here in Ripley County. Every book placed in the hands of a child helps carry Dollyโ€™s vision forward and build a brighter future for the next generation.

If you would like to honor Dollyโ€™s memory by supporting the Imagination Library here in Ripley County, donations may be made through the Ripley County Community Foundation Ripley County Education Endowment #1008: ๐Ÿ’™

Thank you, Dolly, for believing so deeply in the power of books, the potential of every child and the importance of dreaming big. Your legacy will continue every time a child opens a new book. ๐Ÿ“šโค๏ธ

The fund was established by the Board of Directors of the Ripley County Community Foundation to promote and expand the educational attainment of Ripley County residents. To align with Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, in partnership with Southeastern IN YMCA, Batesville Memorial Public Library, Milan/Osgood Public Library, and Tyson Library.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at The Tanglewood for our annual Women's Giving Circle Sun, Fun, & Philanthropy Social! โ˜€๏ธ It was a wonderful evening filled with great conversation, connection, and excitement for the future of our grantmaking.

We were honored to hear from representatives of the Southeast Indiana Health Center, last yearโ€™s grant recipient. ๐Ÿฉบ๐Ÿฅ They shared how WGC funding directly strengthened their operations over the past year, ensuring accessible, compassionate care for individuals and families in our region. Hearing firsthand how those funds translated into real relief for our neighbors was a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish together.

The highlight of the evening was officially distributing the first installment of our brand-new multi-year grant initiative. ๐ŸŽ‰ Over the next three years, the WGC is committing $5,000 annually to Safe Passage, Inc. to help sustain and expand their vital work supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Cari Kettman, the Executive Director of Safe Passage, spoke about the need for consistent, reliable funding and detailed how this $15,000 overall investment will directly strengthen their programs and provide essential shelter, support, and advocacy for women in our area. ๐Ÿ’™

We are deeply grateful to our members and donors whose continued generosity makes these investments possible. As we step into this new chapter of deep, multi-year community support, we look forward to seeing the lasting difference we will make together in Ripley County!
