📣 Looking Ahead to 2027: OFA Plans, Medicare Updates & Lunch

Join the Genesee County Office for the Aging on Wednesday, October 14, at the Bethany Community Center!

The public hearing will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m. Hear a brief update about OFA’s priorities and plans for 2027, share your ideas, and provide feedback about programs and services for older adults and caregivers.

🍽️ A free lunch and presentation on 2027 Medicare updates will follow the public hearing. Learn about upcoming changes to Medicare plans, premiums, and benefits—and how your coverage may be affected.

📚Bring the gift of a great book to your neighbors! Richmond Memorial Library's Library Visits Program is seeking a few volunteers to help deliver library materials and services to older adults in East Bethany, Batavia, and Elba, NY. Today’s OFA Advisory Council meeting took us on the road!

Council members participated in RTS 101 training, including a hands-on ride aboard Route 214. We also enjoyed informative presentations from:

💙 Laurie Watson, OFA Caregiver Services Specialist, who shared information about the support and resources available to caregivers.

🚑 Destin Danser, Chief of Operations at LeRoy Ambulance, who discussed the important services LeRoy Ambulance provides within our community.

A special thank-you to LeRoy Ambulance for hosting today’s meeting and to the LeRoy Ambulance board members and staff who attended and joined in the conversation.

🚑💙 Connecting first responders with Office for the Aging services helps ensure older adults and caregivers receive the support they need—when they need it most.

While our 2 Bank Street building is closed, we’re still getting ready for Bills season! During our closure, OFA staff can be reached for in person services in the community room at the new YMCA or by phone at 585-343-1611 ❤️💙

Our latest seasonal window art by the talented Jill Pettigrew is in progress and sure to bring some fall fun and Bills spirit to the Office for the Aging! 🎨🍁🏈

👉Ombudsman Volunteers are needed for Genesee County. What’s an ombudsman❓It’s a neutral, independent person who’s solution-focused and passionate about the rights of others. Ombudsman help people living in nursing homes through advocacy and effective communication with care partners. 🤝 To learn more, please contact OFA at (585) 343-1611 to speak with the volunteer coordinator.

If you or a loved one live in a nursing home or other facility, an ombudsman is in your corner to help.
