Hanover Township Emergency Services

Hanover Township Emergency Services Training is conducted every Wednesday at 7:00pm at the Emergency Services station.

Professional volunteers trained to respond to a wide range of emergencies and non-emergency events to either assist primary emergency responders or operate independently in times of natural and man-made disasters. Hanover Township Emergency Services is an all volunteer organization that relies on committed members of the community who bring a wide range of experience to the unit. Stop in to see what our volunteers do and provide to Hanover Township and the surrounding communities.

In Illinois, nearly 80% of all tornadoes occur from April 1 - June 30, according to US National Weather Service Chicago Illinois. To assist the NWS, and our community in preparing for severe weather, Emergency Services volunteers serve as trained Weather (Storm) Spotters.

When severe weather approaches, HTES officers deploy to predetermined locations in the Township to report to the NWS on:

✅ Wind speed
✅ Cloud features
✅ Hail size
✅ Flash flooding
✅ And other environmental clues to identify severe storms and tornadoes
