June is Internet Safety Month.

We often talk about what internet safety looks like for our grade school kids, but the truth is, with each age group comes a whole new set of rules and cautions.

As kids transition into their pr***en and teenage years, they will not only see things online, but they will also begin to post. That is why it is so important to talk to your kids about the consequences of not thinking before they post. One of our favorite questions to pose is, “Do I want my parents, grandparents, or teachers to see this?” If not, it is probably not a good idea to post it.

The internet can be equal parts scary and fun. Empower your kids to be safer online!

The response to a disclosure matters. When someone discloses abuse, listen, believe & support them.

Research shows that supportive, validating responses were linked to lower levels of distress and suicidality, while blame, disbelief, and social exclusion were associated with increased suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Your response matters.

In May, we took on a staff step challenge as part of our commitment to recognizing Mental Health Awareness Month. Today, we celebrated those who completed the challenge and handed out some fun prizes!

Taking care of ourselves helps us better care for the individuals and families we serve. We're proud of our team for making wellness a priority!

Thank you to Jrny2u Nutrition and for donating prizes; we could not have celebrated without you!

Stalkers often share intimate images to intimidate, humiliate, discredit, control, and otherwise scare their victims.

The Take it Down Act (TIDA) makes it a federal crime to publish intimate images without the consent of those pictured, including AI-generated content or deepfakes. The law requires certain online platforms to establish a process to remove nonconsensual intimate images within 48 hours.

Sunday morning reminder.

You did not cause the abuse. You did not deserve the abuse. The responsibility belongs to the person who chose to harm, NOT YOU.

And just like that, they look nice and brand new!

Thank you to our volunteer Evan Goad for answering our call for help! The beds look fantastic. Thank you for helping us maintain our space. He even went the extra mile and cleaned up some of the weeds we had growing off to the side.

We are always so thankful when our community steps up!

Thank you to Scott Hawkins from the Oklahoma Attorney General's office for facilitating the CLEET-certified Lethality Assessment Protocol: Response, Risk, and Responsibility training and to all those who attended.

The Lethality Assessment Protocol, or LAP, is a life-saving tool used across Oklahoma to help identify victims of intimate partner violence (IPV) who are at the highest risk of homicide.

This proactive approach delivers vital support and information at the most crucial moment, when it can save lives.
