FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Shooting Incident Leads to Arrest

On June 1, 2026, at approximately 11:16 p.m., officers with the Bartlesville Police Department responded to the Brookhaven Plaza Apartments, located in the 1400 block of South Santa Fe Avenue, regarding a report of a male subject wearing black clothing and carrying a handgun while walking toward the apartment complex
office. The caller reported the individual was yelling at another person.

Upon arrival, a responding officer encountered the suspect. During the encounter, the suspect fired multiple rounds at the officer. The officer was not struck by the gunfire. The suspect then fled the area on foot toward the 1500 block of South Santa Fe Avenue.

During the shooting, at least one round fired toward the officer traveled through the wall of an apartment unit and struck an uninvolved resident inside the apartment in the leg.

Officers immediately entered the apartment, rendered emergency medical aid, and applied a tourniquet to the victim's injured leg. Bartlesville EMS responded and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment.

Additional officers and investigators saturated the area in an effort to locate the suspect. The scene was secured, and evidence collection operations were initiated. A short time later, an officer located a subject matching the suspect's description near the 1600 block of South Penn Avenue. During the investigation, officers recovered a handgun from a nearby dumpster believed to be associated with the incident.

The suspect was transported to the Bartlesville Police Department for further investigation. Upon arrival at the police department and prior to any interview being conducted, the suspect allegedly assaulted an investigator inside an interview room. Investigators conducted witness interviews, processed evidence, and continued their investigation throughout the night.

As a result of the investigation, Jeconiah Ray Dylan King, 21, (DOB: May 8, 2005), was arrested for Assault
and Battery on a Police Officer, along with additional charges related to the shooting incident. No officers were injured during the incident.

This investigation remains active. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Bartlesville Police Department at (918) 338-4001.

Subject: Update – Shooting Investigation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Update: Shooting at Southeast Washington Boulevard Shopping Center

The Bartlesville Police Department is providing updated information regarding the shooting that occurred on May 31, 2026, at approximately 3:00 p.m. outside a shopping center in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Boulevard.

As previously reported, Bartlesville Police officers and an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper responded to the
scene after receiving multiple calls reporting a shooting. Responding officers safely detained the individual who discharged the firearm, secured the scene, and began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The individual who was shot was provided emergency medical care by Bartlesville Fire Department
and EMS personnel before being transported to a Tulsa-area hospital for further treatment. The individual's current condition is unknown at this time.

Since the initial release, investigators have conducted numerous witness interviews and reviewed evidence
collected at the scene. Based on information developed during the investigation, detectives have determined that the individual who discharged the firearm was a third party who was not involved in the initial altercation.

Investigators learned that the third-party individual observed a male attempting to assault another person with a pair of scissors. During that encounter, the armed individual discharged a firearm, striking the male who was allegedly attempting the assault.

At this time, no arrests have been made. Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and will submit their findings to the appropriate prosecutorial authorities for review upon completion of the investigation. Investigators continue to believe this was an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

"Our investigators have spent considerable time interviewing witnesses and reviewing the evidence to establish an accurate understanding of what occurred," said Deputy Chief Troy Newell. "As with any incident involving use of a firearm against another person, it is important that we conduct a thorough and impartial investigation before drawing conclusions."

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Bartlesville Police Department at (918) 338-4001.
