**Fire Chief Nick DiNapoli Retires**

After 32 years of selfless service Fire Chief Nick DiNapoli will be hanging up his turnouts to retire.

He began his firefighting career in 1982 as a Volunteer Firefighter with the Barstow Fire Protection District, showing his dedication from the start. Nick worked hard to climb the ranks, eventually becoming a full-time Firefighter after being appointed as a Firefighter Trainee with the Fire District.

Although he briefly stepped away in 1996, Nick's passion for serving his community brought him back in 1997 as a Board of Directors member for two years. He continued to serve as a Reserve Firefighter in 1998, always finding ways to contribute to the Barstow community.

In 2007, Nick returned to the Fire Department as a Captain, a position he held for 12 years. His commitment to service led to his promotion to Battalion Chief in 2019. Nick's dedication was further recognized when he became Acting Fire Chief in 2021, eventually being appointed as the Fire Chief in 2023, becoming the 9th documented Fire Chief in the 98-year history of the Fire District.

As Chief DiNapoli bids farewell after over 40 years of service, we extend our warmest wishes for a happy and healthy retirement. We thank him for his unwavering dedication and selfless service, and he will truly be missed in the Barstow community.
