Recently, during a visit to Jersey City, I had the pleasure of touring the Liberty Science Center and spending some time with its CEO and President, Paul Hoffman.

With over 800,000 annual visitors, it’s obvious that LSC is an important piece of the New Jersey tourism economy. Last year, they welcomed over 300,000 school children from around the region, including 1,600 from my legislative district. Their planetarium is the largest one in the western hemisphere!

Paul and the team have big plans for the future — thanks in part, to a New Jersey Economic Development Authority CAFE grant — and I’m excited to bring the kids back to see it all.

Great to see the City of Camden on display in the LSC railroad’s exhibit, where it showcases a model of the first drive in movie theater — from right here in the City Invincible. And even better, Popeye was playing on the screen.

BROOKLAWN BUILDING BACK BETTER 🧱

On Friday, I joined municipal, school board, county, and project leaders to celebrate a $6 million renovation project that will revolutionize Brooklawn, NJ’s Alice Costello Elementary School. This 102-year-old elementary school has served generations of students. Thanks to an incredible partnership, renovations are underway that will modernize the school to serve generations to come. Congratulations to Mayor Granstrom, Council, Superintendent Rosetti, BOE President Cecilio and the Brooklawn community on this important milestone.

Today, I had the opportunity to join my friend and mentor U.S. Senator Cory Booker at the Camden County Police Department to see firsthand the innovative work being done to keep Camden residents safe.

Alongside Chief Gabe Rodriguez, Mayor Victor Carstarphen, Commissioners Cappelli and Fleisher, Assemblyman Bill Spearman, and law enforcement leaders, I toured the Real Time Crime Center and Drone Unit and had the chance to speak about the importance of investing in smart public safety strategies, strong community partnerships, and the technology that helps support our officers in the field.

Camden’s remarkable reduction in violent crime over the past decade didn’t happen by accident. It is the result of dedicated leadership, targeted investments, and a collaborative commitment to making our neighborhoods safer for everyone.

Thank you to Senator Booker for taking the time to visit Camden and see this important work up close.

Earlier today, I signed a letter of support for Mr. Muhammed Emanet, a local small business owner in Collingswood, who is battling a continuous immigration issue — the goal posts keep changing. Muhammed owns Jersey Kebab. He came to the United States as a child, is married to an American citizen, is raising two American children, and has become a valued member of our community. As a husband, father, small business owner, and neighbor, he has touched the lives of many people throughout South Jersey.

While I don’t make immigration decisions, I do believe decision-makers should understand the character of the people whose lives are affected by those decisions. From The Sopranos to Clerks, A Beautiful Mind to The Wolf of Wall Street — New Jersey has long been a backdrop for some of the most iconic moments in film and television. 🎬 The Assembly recently advanced bill A4883, sponsored by Assemblyman Bill Moen, which would establish a New Jersey Film Trail highlighting filming locations across the state through official markers, interactive maps, and tourism itineraries.

The goal: celebrate New Jersey’s cultural footprint, support local tourism and small businesses, and give residents and visitors a new way to experience the stories filmed right here at home.
