It was a pleasure to welcome Governor Sherrill to the 5th Legislative District and to Holt Logistics in Gloucester City ahead of Labor Day.

We had the opportunity to meet and recognize the hardworking men and women who keep this vital terminal moving and talk about the continued investment being made in our region. With two new container cranes arriving, Holt is expanding its capabilities and strengthening the Delaware River economy — creating opportunities and investing in the future of South Jersey.

Proud to see this kind of investment happening right here in the 5th District!

I recently visited Hopeworks Camden to meet some of their new students and to see firsthand how the organization prepares their students — 99% of their adult students are underemployed when they enter the program — for our ever-evolving local economy. Their 94% retention rate is a key piece of their successful equation. They are putting training opportunities in front of local adults who may not have thought they would ever see one or simply, had given up.

Earlier this week, I visited with our friends at the Food Bank of South Jersey in Pennsauken Township. Thanks to CEO Jane Asselta for briefing our team on the FBSJ operation, the negative impact of the federal changes to SNAP benefits and the strain it places on food pantries and ultimately organizations like theirs. We also discussed my legislation that would require supermarkets to donate their unused food to places like FBSJ.

Did you know that 1 in 9 residents in our region live with food insecurity and sadly, 1 in 7 children?

The FBSJ does great work and they’re always seeking donations and volunteers. Would you consider lending a hand?

Yesterday, I joined the leadership of the Battleship New Jersey, local officials and Evan Weiss of the NJEDA to celebrate a major state investment that is expected to ensure this storied ship and the organization remains a key piece of South Jersey’s tourism and arts portfolio for the next generation.

The Battleship has been awarded $24.25 million through the New Jersey Economic Development Authority’s Cultural Arts Facilities Expansion (CAFE) Program. The project will build a new landside visitor center, expanded and more accessible parking, a new event space, and critical improvements aboard the ship. The project is expected to be completed in 2029.

These are the kinds of state investments in our arts and tourism attractions that pave a path forward to help guarantee they remain economic drivers of our state. Our 5th District Team was proud to support this initiative and celebrate the great news.

Philadelphia area (including Gloucester, Camden & Burlington) County) residents, businesses & non-profits are eligible to apply for federal loans to repair damage from the July 11, 2026 storms.

WHAT'S AVAILABLE?

-Businesses & private nonprofits may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace disaster-damaged property and other business assets.

-Homeowners may borrow up to $500,000 to repair or replace their primary residence.

-Homeowners & renters may borrow up to $100,000 to repair or replace personal property.

-Eligible small businesses & private nonprofits may apply for Economic Injury Disaster Loans to address disaster-related financial losses, even if they did not sustain physical damage.

-Economic Injury: April 30, 2027
