REST IN PEACE, JACKIE LOVE.

Earlier today, I learned of the loss of a friend and community leader, Deptford Township’s former Deputy Mayor, Jackie Love.

Back in March when we held our annual Irish American Leadership Breakfast, we honored Jackie with our “Friend of the Irish” Award. For anyone who was in attendance, you could notice two things: 1) how deserving she was of that award, and 2) how grateful and elated she was to be receiving that award.

I am so glad that we had the chance to bestow that honor upon Jackie because, sadly, it was the last time that I would be able to get to see her and hug her. She left an indelible mark on the audience that day — the kind of indelible mark she left on the people she served and the people who had the pleasure to meet her.

Rest in Peace, Jackie. You will be missed.

ASSEMBLYMAN MOEN STATEMENT ON EMR SCRAP METAL FIRE IN CAMDEN

“It is appalling that yet another fire at EMR is putting Camden and surrounding residents at risk. It is well past time for this facility to be shut down. Our communities should not live with the constant threat of fires, toxic smoke, and air quality alerts. It is disgraceful. I call on EMR to immediately cease its operations in Camden City. I also call on our federal and state authorities—including the Department of Environmental Protection—to investigate this facility. I have spent the past year focused on advancing meaningful legislation that would hold scrap metal facilities like EMR accountable. I am committed to continuing to move these bills forward that protect residents.”

This morning, I spent some time with the future.

I joined Bellmawr’s 2026 Youth in Government Day participants as they started their day at Borough Hall. These 19 students from town will have an opportunity to explore local government and shadow some of the local officials to see how government works.

I made sure to stop tell them to enjoy this opportunity because it could very well be the spark that ignites their desire to serve. It was for me when I participated in the Youth Mayor and Council program in Runnemede back in 2001.

MEMORIAL DAY MESSAGE

On this Memorial Day, please take a moment to stop and reflect on the fallen heroes that we honor on this day. For it not for these fallen heroes, we would not be able to pledge allegiance to the flag and enjoy many of the other pleasures we take for granted.

This year, I spent the morning in Barrington Borough and Gloucester City as hundreds collectively gathered to pay tribute to those — both locally and nationally — who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

This is what community is all about. God Bless America.

BIPARTISANSHIP AT ITS BEST IN CAPE MAY!

Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of visiting with the Cape May County Chamber and the Greater Wildwood Chamber of Commerce to provide an update as Chairman of the Assembly Tourism, Gaming and Arts Committee.

Cape May County tourism is a crucial part of the state’s tourism portfolio and why tourism is one of our state’s largest economic drivers. I joined two of my GOP Assembly colleagues — Antwan McClellan and Eric Simonsen — at this event. Asm. McClellan and I discussed our state’s work on FIFA, USA 250, the NJ Film Trail bill and also how we have worked to ensure South Jersey got more of its fair share.

Congratulations to EMR for building their new fire suppression system at their Camden site. It’s a shame that it’s taken so long to happen, and should our scrap metal reform legislation pass the Senate and be signed by the Governor, EMR and other scrap yards will be required to do this and even more to prevent fires at their properties.

EMR: I guess my invitation to see this today got lost in the mail?

Don’t worry, I’m not offended.
