Throughout the month, Barrington 220 second graders are visiting Grigsby Prairie to learn, explore, and connect with a natural area right here in our community!

During today’s visit to Grigsby Prairie, Rose students searched for plants, explored how plants and animals work together, and paused to listen to the sounds of nature.

These experiences are part of Barrington 220’s Nature Lady Program, a longstanding partnership with the Garden Club of Barrington that brings hands-on nature learning to our students.

We are grateful for the time, expertise, and generosity of our community partners who help bring authentic learning to life and connect our students to nature!

Lead Your Learning is our theme for the 2026–2027 school year, celebrating students who take an active role in their learning and use their skills and creativity in meaningful ways.

This video from last spring highlights Prairie Middle School Consumer Science students bringing Barrington Early Learning Center students’ drawings to life by creating one-of-a-kind stuffed animals inspired by their designs. A few weeks after their initial design meeting, the Consumer Science students presented their creations to the young artists who inspired them!

We love seeing our students lead their learning, put their creativity into action, and make a difference for others!

BTP Brew is brewing up something special!

Students from the Barrington Transition Program are putting their vocational skills into action with BTP Brew, a student-run coffee cart selling drinks and snacks while helping students build confidence, independence, and real-world workplace skills.

BTP Brew is kicking things off at the Barrington 220 District Office, with hopes of popping up at other locations across the district in the future.

We’re so proud of our students for taking on this new opportunity. Every drink sold is another opportunity to learn, grow, build confidence, and prepare for life after high school.

Lead Your Learning is our theme for the 2026–2027 school year, reflecting Barrington 220’s commitment to learner agency and empowering students to take an active role in their educational journey.

This video highlights Station 8th grader Sam, whose original piece, “Procession of the Nobles,” was performed by the Station Middle School band at their concert last spring. Sam’s creativity and initiative are a wonderful example of what it means to lead your learning and share your talents with others!

We are excited to share more examples of our Barrington 220 students leading their learning in the year ahead!

This afternoon, BHS welcomed families to the Fine Arts Family Kick Off! Students and parents had the opportunity to learn more about the many fine arts opportunities available during the 2026–2027 school year and how to get involved.

Thank you to all that attended. We’re looking forward to a wonderful year of creativity and opportunities in the Fine Arts!

Today at Barrington High School, Kindergarten Lab students and Education Pathway students came together for their first collaboration of the school year. Students spent time getting to know one another and creating bracelets that celebrate unity and community.

K-Lab is a unique kindergarten experience that takes place at BHS and is open to all district families. It gives our youngest learners the opportunity to learn in a high school environment while giving BHS students interested in education the chance to gain real world experience working with young children.

Throughout the year, K-Lab students will learn and explore alongside high school students through hands on experiences in horticulture, culinary arts, science, dance, cultural celebrations, and more. These experiences create meaningful connections and give students of different ages opportunities to learn from one another!

It’s the first day of school at Harper College for our first-ever College Now cohort from Barrington High School! These juniors will spend their mornings at Harper taking classes before heading back to BHS to take afternoon courses. Next year, the majority of their day will be spent on the Harper campus. At the end of two years, they will graduate with a high school diploma and a college degree!
