Barrington 220 School District Barrington 220 is a nationally-recognized PK-12+ public school district located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.

Empower personal excellence in every learner. The first Barrington school was a one-room schoolhouse, which opened in 1835. However, it wasn’t until 1973 that the Barrington 220 School District officially formed. Through the years, Barrington 220 has become a nationally recognized school district, known for its innovative curriculum, rich history and sense of community. As a unit district, Barring

ton 220 has the unique opportunity to see students’ education from the very beginning, until they graduate from Barrington High School. Our schools have earned a total of 11 National Blue Ribbon Awards and nearly 90% of our teachers have earned a master’s degree or higher. In 2019, 2020 and 2021 Barrington 220 was named a “Top Workplace in Chicagoland” by the Chicago Tribune.

Barrington families are invited to join us at Prairie on June 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to hear Kate Swenson, author of The Secret World of Autism blog and co-author of Autism Out Loud.

The event will offer an inspiring look into the world of autism through the eyes of Kate's son Cooper and share the Swenson family’s journey of learning, growing, and advocating for their son.

This week, Barrington 220 proudly hosted the UFirst Professional Growth Summit, a dedicated professional learning event designed specifically for our classified staff members.

At Barrington 220, we are committed to providing meaningful professional learning opportunities that meet the unique needs of our staff. The Instruction and Student Performance Department developed a comprehensive and robust summit featuring a wide variety of course offerings.

The UFirst Professional Growth Summit provided participants with opportunities to build new skills, expand their knowledge, and connect with colleagues across the district, all in support of our shared commitment to serving students and families.

Thank you to everyone who participated, facilitated sessions, and helped make this event a success. Your dedication to continuous growth and learning strengthens our entire Barrington 220 community!

May was one for the books in Barrington 220!

From the 5th Grade Track Meet and memorable field trips to the groundbreaking of the new BHS auditorium, May was filled with opportunities to learn, celebrate, and connect.

We also debuted our new food truck, showcased student creativity and entrepreneurship at the Innovation Showcase and Pitch Night, celebrated the end of another successful school year, and honored the Class of 2026 at graduation.

Congratulations to our very own Aditi from Prairie Campus for her amazing performance at the Scripps National Spelling Bee this week! Making it through six rounds with the lights and cameras pointed at you is quite the accomplishment!!!

Congratulations to our regional spelling bee champion, Aditi Mopur, on an incredible performance at the 2026 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. Representing Lake County (Barrington 220 School District), Aditi advanced all the way to the Semifinals, ultimately placing 30th out of 247 spellers nationwide. While she did not advance to the Finals, this is an outstanding accomplishment and a testament to her hard work, dedication, and talent. We are incredibly proud of Aditi and all she achieved on the national stage, and we look forward to next year’s spelling bee!
