Barre Fire Department Official Barre Fire Department page Barre Fire Department headquarters is located at Fire Station 1 - 61 School St. North.

The Department also operates 2 sub station, Fire Station 2 located at 50 Main St. in South Barre and the Steven Brewer Public Safety building located at 655 South St.. The Department currently operates 4 Engines, 1 100' Aerial, 1 Heavy Rescue, 2 ALS level Ambulances, and 3 Forestry Fire Units. The Barre Fire Department is a combination Department made up of the Chief of Department, 1 Deputy Chief,

2 Assistant Chiefs, 3 Captains, 3 Lieutenants, along with 35 on call Firefighters, EMTs and Paramedics. The Department also has 5 Full-Time Career FF/Paramedics and FF/EMTs staffing Fire Station 1 24/7.

We are proud to announce that the Barre Fire Department has been awarded $12,397.83 through the FY26 Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

This funding will go toward a gear extractor and a positive pressure ventilation (PPV) fan—both important tools that improve firefighter safety. The gear extractor allows us to properly clean and decontaminate turnout gear, helping reduce exposure to carcinogens, while the PPV fan helps remove smoke, heat, and toxic gases more efficiently during incidents.

Thank you to the Commonwealth, the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, and the Department of Fire Services for the continued support!
