At around 6:06 this morning, April 6, 2026 units from the Barnesville Fire Department were dispatched to Elm St.for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival E11 found a working room and contents fire. E11 pulled an 1-3/4" handline and made a transitional attack with entry then made to perform overhaul operations. Barnesville Fire Dept personnel were assisted by LCFR E1, and county fire personnel. The fire affected one unit of a multifamily building with heavy fire damage to one room and thermal, smoke and water damage throughout the rest of the unit. There were no injuries to citizens or fire personnel. Units went back in service at7:51 AM. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The City of Barnesville Fire Department is accepting applications for the position of Firefighter. This person performs a variety of firefighting functions including fire suppression and prevention activities. Must possess valid GA Class “F” driver’s license and a valid State of GA Certification as a Firefighter.

As we prepare for the coming storm, please be weather aware and stay in a safe place. Also, please be patient with crews working to restore power and other services. We will be calling our firefighters in to staff trucks in order to provide any assistance needed from the fire department. Stay safe everyone!!
