We have one high school and an interconnected middle school, one elementary and one preschool, all located on the same campus in LaCenter. A brand-new, state-of-the-art high school opened in January 2006; a new middle school followed in 2007. Our rural setting and background offer small-town amenities without sacrificing current technological resources. There is an interactive Smart Board in every
classroom, and technology is integrated into the curriculum on a daily basis. Our younger students can receive some forms of speech and occupational therapies on-site at their schools. For our older students, we offer advanced placement classes, and many dual-credit courses in association with West Kentucky Community and Technology College in Paducah and Murray State University. Students can leave high school with a significant number of college credits, or receive certification in several vocational programs, all without any additional tuition costs. Co-curricular programs provide additional opportunities for students to develop skills for the real world. We welcome parents and visitors into all of our buildings. Please let us know you’re coming, and please check in with the school secretary when you arrive. We welcome you to engage with Ballard County Schools through our Facebook and Twitter social media channels. The purpose of these social media channels is to convey information about the district and its schools; promote and raise awareness of our vision, mission, policies and services; and communicate timely information to families, students, employees, and community members. These channels are not intended to be general public forums covering all topics. In addition, BCS manages and moderates the content and comments on all of our social media sites. These guidelines are intended to maintain social media platforms in a manner that is viewpoint-neutral. Further, social media platforms may have automated mechanisms that hide or otherwise block comments which are beyond the control of BCS. The comments expressed on social network sites do not necessarily reflect the opinions or position of BCS or the Ballard County Board of Education. A comment is the opinion of the commenter only. If you have any questions concerning the operation of these social media channels, please contact the public relations director at the district board office. If comments are permitted and posted, BCS reserves the right to remove submissions/comments that:
