Ready to fly, one screw at a time. ✈️🔧

Airmen with the 2nd Maintenance Squadron work around the clock on a B-52H Stratofortress over a period of weeks to perform extensive and in-depth maintenance not possible on the flightline. This period of maintenance work tasks Airmen to work on various areas of the B-52 simultaneously in order to ensure the craft is back into a battle-ready posture as soon as possible.

Cleared for flight. Ready for the fight. 💉🩻

In the next step of Ground to Global, we take a look at the Barksdale Operational Medical Readiness Squadron’s aerospace and operational medicine flight.

Before the B-52H Stratofortress takes off, the OMRS provides medical evaluations and flight clearances Airmen need before flying. Through every clearance and evaluation, the Barksdale Medical Group plays a vital part in our mission, maintaining a force of Airmen ready to deliver global combat airpower around the clock.

As we continue moving from ground to global, stay tuned for the next unit!

The 2nd Bomb Wing teamed up with Hunt Housing for National Night Out, bringing Airmen, families and community leaders together. The evening featured games, food and various demonstrations, giving a chance to connect and build relationships with our local community. Putting readiness to the test 💪

Airmen from Team Barksdale came together during Bayou Vigilance 26-3 to test their ability to respond, adapt and support mission operations. Throughout the exercise, Barksdale Airmen applied their training in various scenarios, demonstrating their readiness and lethality in accomplishing the B-52 mission.

The work behind the mission💪

Exercise Bayou Vigilance 26-3 brought Airmen across the 2nd Bomb Wing together to demonstrate the precision and teamwork behind our mission. BV 26-3 is a bomber generation exercise designed to enhance the readiness and training needed to respond to global challenges.

The exercise may be over, but the Mighty Deuce continues to deliver whenever called upon.

Every mission starts somewhere 🌎

Welcome to Ground to Global, a new series highlighting the Airmen and teams who help get the B-52H Stratofortress off the ground.

Before the engines start, Plans and Programs (XP) are working behind the scenes. The team develops and maintains plans that help the wing prepare for different missions and operational needs. XP personnel help synchronize the wing during exercises and real-world operations by coordinating information, plans and resources across different organizations.

It takes a team to move the mission from ground to global. Stay tuned as we take you further through the process!
