To our wonderful community,
We want to share an update on where things stand with the Carlisle County Museum and Library and let you know how hard we are working behind the scenes to open our doors to the public.
Many people may not realize that we receive absolutely no tax dollars or government funding. Our entire operations and renovation budget depend entirely on your support through our three annual fundraisers: our Chili Supper in February, the Fried Chicken Dinner in May, and the Burkley Fish Fry in September.
Because we rely strictly on these events, our timeline for opening is entirely tied to our finances. Even though our doors are not officially open yet, the museum still incurs significant ongoing expenses. Monthly bills, especially utilities and insurance, continue to be our largest financial responsibilities.
Despite these challenges, we have made some incredible progress this year thanks to your past support:
This past spring, we successfully installed a brand-new HVAC system, which cost $11,000.00.
We have fully purchased the new flooring and are currently waiting on the contractor to begin the installation.
We have purchased the paint for two rooms that need to be refreshed.
Our next major hurdle is funding and installing new lighting, which will require hiring a professional electrician.
Our goal is to officially open to the public just as soon as the current flooring and painting projects are completed. Other remaining upgrades, like the lighting, can safely be worked on while we are open.
We are incredibly grateful for your patience and your continued dedication to preserving our local history. Please keep our upcoming fundraisers in mind, as every ticket purchased directly funds the completion of these projects and keeps our lights on.
Thank you for standing by us!
