Patrick "Pat" Scott Ballard, age 52, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully, Saturday, September 12, 2026, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Pat was a devoted husband to his wife Katrina of 25 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, hard work, and countless memories. He was a loving father to his two children Ethan and Aiden, who were among the greatest joys of his life.
A talented home builder and realtor, Pat took great pride in his work and in the homes and relationships he helped build throughout his life. Outside of work, Pat found his greatest happiness in the simple things and enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family, smoking meat for the family barbecues, and being around the farm.
Above all, Pat was a loving husband and family man. He will be remembered for his love of his family, his generosity, his strength, and his courageous spirit. His absence will leave an enormous space in the hearts of his wife, children, family and friends. Pat was deeply loved and he will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Anthony Ballard and his brother, Glen Ballard.
He is survived by his wife, Katrina Moran Ballard, 2 sons, Ethan Ballard and Aiden Ballard, both of Bardstown, his parents, Jody and Nora Marie Ballard of Bardstown, 2 sisters, Karen (Jody) Harmon, Donna (Robert) Smith, both of Bardstown, his brother, Wayne (Rhonda) Ballard of St. Francis, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Friday, September 18, 2026 at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral. Very Reverend J. Randall Hubbard, celebrant. Interment will be in St. Thomas Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home Thursday from 3:00-8:00 pm with a prayer service at 5:30 pm. Additional visitation will be Friday from 9:00-10:30 am.
Pallbearers will be Aiden Ballard, Jody Harmon, Peyton Harmon, David Edward Moran, Jimmie Dell Moran, and Raffo Wimsett III. Honorary pallbearers will be Carol Ballard, Clara Ballard, Kaitlyn Ballard, Patrick Ethan Ballard, Wayne Ballard, Karen Harmon, David Lee Moran and Donna Smith.
The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home of Bardstown is in charge of arrangements.
