When children mess up, our words can shape how they see themselves in that moment - and how they respond the next time. 💛 Instead of labeling them as “bad,” “careless,” or “naughty,” focus on the behavior and remind them that mistakes are part of learning.

Try saying, “Everyone makes mistakes. Let's figure this out together.” Children need to know that making a mistake doesn’t change how much they are loved, valued, or believed in. Our calm and encouraging words can help them build confidence, problem-solving skills, and resilience.

Remember, the goal isn’t to make children feel bad for their mistakes - it’s to help them learn from them. Your words matter, especially when little hearts are learning how to handle big mistakes. ❤️

Join us for an important community conversation about mental health, neurodiversity, and su***de prevention. 💛💜

The Danny Boy Foundation is honored to partner with Plymouth-Canton Community Schools for a free Family Presentation Night designed for teens, parents, guardians, and families.

We’ll talk openly about the intersection of neurodivergence and su***de risk, challenge common myths, and discuss how we can recognize when someone may be struggling—while giving families practical, neurodiversity-affirming ways to start conversations about mental health and su***de.

Because su***de prevention shouldn’t begin only when someone reaches a crisis. It begins much earlier—with education, connection, understanding, and creating spaces where young people know they can talk about what they’re experiencing.
