On June 18, 2026, detectives from the Banning Police Department Detective Bureau, assisted by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office Gang Impact Team (GIT), arrested two suspects in connection with the June 7, 2026, murder of 21-year-old Banning resident David Hernandez-Enriques.

At approximately 3:06 p.m., detectives arrested Fernando Maryon Miranda Jr. (DOB: 02-12-1992) in the 300 block of E. Ramsey Street in Banning. Later that evening, at approximately 7:50 p.m., detectives arrested Damaso Ruben Santellanomurillo (DOB: 06-19-2004) in the 200 block of W. Dale Street in the City of Beaumont.

Both suspects were identified as being involved in the murder of Hernandez-Enriques.

Following their arrests, both suspects were processed at the Banning Police Department and later booked into the Robert Presley Detention Facility in Riverside.

Fernando Maryon Miranda Jr. was booked for:
• Penal Code 187(a) – Murder
• Penal Code 186.22(a) – Active Participation in a Criminal Street Gang
• Penal Code 32- Accessory
Damaso Ruben Santellanomurillo was booked for:
• Penal Code 187(a) – Murder
• Penal Code 186.22(a) – Active Participation in a Criminal Street Gang
• Penal Code 32-Accessory

Initial Media Release from June 8, 2026:
Banning, Calif. – On June 7, 2026, at approximately 10:57 p.m., Banning Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 6th Street and Ramsey Street regarding a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male in the 600 block of W. Ramsey Street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim, later identified as David Hernandez-Enriques (DOB: 10/20/2004), was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Banning Police Department Detective Bureau is actively investigating this incident. The investigation remains active and ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.

On May 21, 2026, at approximately 10:44 p.m., a Banning Police Officer was involved in a traffic collision with a pedestrian in the 1100 block of W. Ramsey Street.

The California Highway Patrol Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded to the scene and has assumed responsibility for the investigation.

All media inquiries and requests for information regarding this investigation will be handled by the California Highway Patrol San Gorgonio Pass Area Office.
