The City of Bangor is asking for the public’s assistance when it comes to efforts by work crews to paint fresh yellow and white traffic lines on streets across the City.

There have been several instances recently in which vehicles were too close to a paint truck while driving behind it and this led to those vehicles driving over fresh paint. As the accompanying photo shows, this creates messy yellow and white tire tracks on the road surface that are difficult and expensive to remove.

Please help workers by giving them and their paint truck a wide berth and avoid crossing over fresh paint.

The Portland Sea Dogs will host Water & Wastewater Professionals' Day this Saturday, June 20, at Hadlock Field. The City of Bangor wants to use the event as an opportunity to thank the hard-working staff at Bangor's Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The plant is essential for several reasons, including to protect the Penobscot River and Kenduskeag Stream by treating sewage so that clean water can be returned to the environment; removing solids and pollutants; breaking down organic matter; and by restoring the oxygen content of treated water.

It's the second-largest plant in the state, treating an average of 8 million gallons of wastewater each day. Staff also maintains 150 miles of publicly owned sewer lines in the City.
