101st Air Refueling Wing The Maine Air National Guard base in Bangor is home to the 101st Air Refueling Wing, affectionately known as the ' MAINEiacs'.

Deploy and employ air refueling, airlift, expeditionary aerospace and combat support forces around the world, while supporting National Security, Homeland Defense, and State of Maine objectives at home. The 101ARW is located at the Bangor International Airport with additional geographically separated units in South Portland and in Augusta. The 101st provides 24 hour air and ground refueling for many aircraft whose destination takes them across the Atlantic.

On Saturday of Home Station Training Week, the 101st Security Forces Squadron conducted a field training exercise consisting of air base ground defense training covering ground reconnaissance and a medical evacuation.

Huge thank you to our partners across the flight line from the 126th Aviation Regiment for bringing a UH-60 Black Hawk over for our members to practice medical evacuation procedures.

On Friday, June 5, members of the 101st Security Forces Squadron and Bangor Maine Police Department took part in the Special Olympics Maine Law Enforcement Torch Run. The torch run is a multi-day event where law enforcement departments across the state carry the flame to the opening ceremonies of the Special Olympics Maine State Summer Games, which took place this weekend at the University of Maine, Orono.

Well done to both departments and to all Maine Special Olympics Athletes!

Members of the 101st Force Support Squadron got after it bright and early Monday morning of Home Station Training Week, assembling two small shelter systems (Triple S).

The systems are designed to last upwards of twenty years when assembled properly, and can be equipped with heating and cooling, kitchens, and more!

On June 1, 2026, the 101st Air Refueling Wing held an official Change of Command ceremony, marking a seamless transition of leadership and responsibility.

Col. Byron Newell relinquished command to Col. Sarah Clapp in a ceremony presided over by Brig. Gen. Ian Gillis, Maine Air National Guard Commander.

We proudly welcome Col. Clapp as the new 101st Air Refueling Wing Commander. Having previously served as the wing's Deputy Commander, Col. Clapp brings a profound understanding of our operational mission, our Airmen, and our strategic objectives.

We look forward to the future and continued mission excellence under her leadership!
