Meticulously restored in the mid 2000's, this beautiful venue is under new ownership and is now called MILL HALL. Anyone who has a connection with Southwest Michigan will surely recognize the large, red building by the train tracks in the center of downtown Bangor. Built in 1873, the Historic Bangor Elevator is truly a landmark in the community. In the mid 2000โs, in a partnership with the city of
Bangor, Mike Fritz (Michigan Summer Blueberries, Inc.) and Bob Emmert (The Bangor Historical Society), this centerpiece of downtown Bangor was meticulously restored in a multi-year labor of love to its present condition. The top-to-bottom restoration included brand new oak deck, roofing, siding, insulation, doors & windows, electrical service, HVAC & upgrades to provide modern amenities, flexibility in its use, and accessibility. In December of 2008, the Bangor Elevator was granted the prestigious status of being placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior. In 2009, Bangor Restoration was presented with a Governor's Award for Historic Preservation. It was one of seven projects in the entire state of Michigan. The 95th Legislature of the State of Michigan presented a Special Tribute in February of 2009 to Bangor Restoration for its accomplishments in the preservation of an historic building. In recent years, the Bangor Elevator operated as a special event venue for area weddings and other special occasions, and a Brewery.
