Sheriff’s Office Investigates Fatal ATV Crash.

CORINTH, Maine —

On Saturday, June 13, at approximately 9:55 p.m., the Penobscot Regional Communications Center received a report of a serious ATV crash on Beech Grove Road in Corinth.

Deputies from the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office and personnel from Corinth Ambulance responded to the scene. Upon arrival, first responders discovered that an ATV had left the roadway and rolled over into a wooded area. Two individuals were ejected from the machine.

One individual was pronounced deceased at the scene. A second occupant sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Preliminary investigation indicates the ATV was being operated on the roadway, not on a designated trail, when it left the road and overturned. Early findings suggest speed, reckless operation, and alcohol may have been contributing factors in the crash.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division, Criminal Investigation Division, Crash Reconstruction Team, and Forensic Mapping Team responded and conducted the investigation.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. No additional information will be released at this time while the investigation remains active.

Sheriff’s Office resumes High Visibility Traffic Enforcement to make safer roads.

Voluntary compliance and high visibility traffic enforcement is a proven strategy to make safer roads.

June 11, 2026 – The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office conducted High Visibility Traffic Enforcement details in the towns of Bradford and Charleston. During a three-hour period, deputies stopped a total of 33 vehicles.

These proactive enforcement operations are being conducted in response to a significant increase in speeding complaints and traffic crashes reported during the summer months.

The Sheriff's Office will continue to prioritize these traffic safety details across the county over the coming months.

Strategic plan assists in Plymouth arrest.

Plymouth Man Arrested on Aggravated Trafficking Warrant

On June 6, 2026, at approximately 8:20 p.m., Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, accompanied by K9 Memphis, responded to a residence on Moosehead Trail in Plymouth to conduct a warrant check.

Deputies were seeking Jeffrey Roberts, 46, of Plymouth, who was wanted on a Cumberland County arrest warrant with $10,000 cash bail for Aggravated Trafficking.

Prior to the operation, deputies had received information indicating that Roberts had violent tendencies toward law enforcement and had previously escaped from a cruiser during transport. Based on this information, deputies implemented a strategic response plan focused on ensuring the safety of the public, law enforcement personnel, and all involved parties.

As a result of these efforts, Roberts was taken into custody without incident and transported for processing.

No injuries were reported during the arrest.

Sheriff’s Office investigates fatal Eddington crash.

Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash Under Investigation in Eddington

Eddington, Maine — June 8, 2026

On June 8, 2026, at approximately 1:08 p.m., the Penobscot Regional Communications Center received a report of a serious motor vehicle crash on Route 9 in Eddington near the Eddington Fire Department.

Upon arrival, first responders determined that a van traveling westbound on Route 9 had crossed the roadway and struck a work vehicle that was legally parked in the breakdown lane. The collision was head-on and resulted in extensive damage to both vehicles.

The operator of the parked work vehicle was transported to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

The operator of the van was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team is actively investigating and reconstructing the crash. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Eddington Fire Department, Holden Fire Department, Brewer Rescue, and Capital Ambulance.

No further information is being released at this time.

Police Pursuit Results in Arrest Following Dangerous Driving Incident

Corinth , Maine

On June 4, 2026, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an erratic and dangerous driver operating a GMC pickup truck in Hudson. The caller reported the vehicle was performing donuts in a public area and had sustained significant front-end damage.

Deputies responding to the area located the truck and observed damage consistent with reports received earlier in the day. They confirmed the pickup that had been reported stolen from Bangor earlier that night and had previously been involved in a pursuit with the Bangor Police Department.

Prior to being located by deputies, the stolen vehicle had reportedly been involved in multiple crashes and had driven through a public park while people were present, creating a substantial risk to public safety. The vehicle subsequently traveled along Broadway, generating multiple complaints regarding its operation.

When deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the operator refused and fled. During the ensuing pursuit, the driver operated recklessly, repeatedly crossing into oncoming traffic and driving in a manner that posed an immediate danger to motorists and the public.

At one point during the pursuit, the suspect intentionally rammed a deputy’s cruiser and made several additional attempts to strike or force pursuing law enforcement vehicles off the roadway. A second sheriff’s cruiser also sustained damage during the incident.

The pursuit continued through multiple areas, including fields and residential properties, as the suspect attempted to evade law enforcement. Due to the driver’s ongoing dangerous behavior and the immediate threat posed to the public, deputies continued the pursuit in an effort to stop the vehicle and prevent further harm.

Deputies successfully deployed tire deflation devices; however, the suspect continued operating the vehicle despite multiple deflated tires. The truck remained mobile and continued fleeing even after the tires had been destroyed and the vehicle was operating on its rims.

The pursuit ultimately ended in Corinth when the suspect vehicle entered a parking lot and was struck by another truck, disabling the stolen vehicle and bringing it to a stop. Deputies immediately took the operator into custody without further incident.

As a result of the investigation,

Andrew Wright, 22, listed as a transient was charged with:

Aggravated Driving to Endanger
Eluding an Officer
Criminal Speed
Aggravated Criminal Mischief
Trespass by Motor Vehicle
Operating Without a License

The incident remains under investigation, and additional charges are expected.

No serious injuries were reported as a result of the pursuit.

The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the members of the public who provided information during the incident. Their assistance was instrumental in helping law enforcement safely bring this dangerous situation to a conclusion.

Penobscot County Sheriff's Office Investigating Robbery and Stabbing in Eddington

On June 4, 2026, at approximately 5:30 a.m., the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported robbery on Chestnut Lane in Eddington.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered that an adult male had sustained a stab wound to the neck during the incident and had been threatened with a firearm. The suspects fled the area in a vehicle before the deputies' arrival and are believed to have left the immediate area.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he received treatment for his injuries.

The investigation is being led by the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division with assistance from the Maine State Police.

Based on information gathered during the investigation, law enforcement has determined this was an isolated incident, and there is no known danger to the public at this time.
