This is the part about a four-day school week that’s easy to overlook.

When you only have four school days each week, missing just one means missing 25% of the school week.

And those four days are packed. Our school day is 501 minutes long, compared to about 420 minutes in a typical five-day district. That means one absence at Bandera ISD can mean about 19% more instructional time missed.

There’s no fifth day in the week to spread out the learning. When a student misses Monday, everything they missed has to be caught up while Tuesday’s learning is already moving forward.

Four days. Four opportunities every week. Every one of them counts.

Bandera ISD families, this year we have ONE number for you: FIVE!

Our goal is simple: Every student. Fewer than 5 absences. All year.

Why does FIVE matter so much in Bandera ISD?

With our four-day school week, students attend 153 days each year instead of the traditional 180. That means every school day carries a little more weight. Just 5 absences adds up to more than a full week of learning in our school calendar.

And just to be clear — we’re counting from the first day of school in August, not starting today! September is simply when we’re kicking off the conversation.

September is National Attendance Awareness Month, making it the perfect time to remind everyone how much showing up matters.

153 days. Make them count. Strive for less than FIVE!

🌵🎨 3rd Grade Cactus Paintings! 🎨🌵

Our 3rd graders created colorful cactus paintings using tempera paint while learning to mix secondary and intermediate colors all on their own! 🌈 They experimented, mixed, and made each cactus uniquely theirs! 💚
