Please join us in congratulating Mr. Ricardo Mata on being named the new Assistant Principal at Hill Country Elementary for the 2026-2027 school year!

Mr. Mata joined the Bandera ISD family last year as a 6th Grade Math Teacher, Middle School Football and Track Coach, and High School Soccer Coach. Prior to coming to Bandera, he served Wilson ISD for eight years in a variety of leadership roles, including Teacher, Coach, Athletic Director, and Assistant Principal.

His experience, leadership, and passion for students make him an outstanding addition to the Hill Country Elementary leadership team.

"Mr. Mata brings a wealth of experience in both the classroom and administration, along with a strong commitment to student success," said Superintendent Gary Bitzkie. "His ability to build relationships, support teachers, and create positive learning environments will be a tremendous asset to Hill Country Elementary. We are excited to see him join Mrs.Thaler as they lead the campus into an exciting new chapter."

Mr. Mata will join Mrs. Thaler, who was recently named Principal of Hill Country Elementary, as the campus leadership team prepares for the 2026-2027 school year.

Congratulations, Mr. Mata! We are excited for the future of Hill Country Elementary and look forward to the positive impact you will make on our students, staff, and families.

On Monday, May 25th four Bandera High School choir students competed at the Texas UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest held at Lehman High School in Kyle.

Savanna Rook (Junior), Teagan Hartzo (Sophomore), and Emily Whidden (Freshman) all received a 'Superior Rating' gold medal for their solo singing performances. Alice Rice (Sophomore) received a rating of 'Excellent' and a silver medal for her solo singing performance.

Congratulations to all of these outstanding Bandera High School Choir students for their wonderful accomplishments!!

Congratulations to Bandera High School student, Ruffin Scartocci, on placing 5th in Headline Writing at the UIL State Academic Meet!

This is an incredible accomplishment and a true reflection of Ruffin’s hard work, talent, and dedication. We are so proud to see Bulldog excellence represented at the state level!
