A great experience of my life, led by inspirational Debra Evans
April 7,2005.
The day was finally here! Something that we had been working toward since 1998. 7 years later. A beautiful Thursday morning, everything in place. The rain came for a moment, but stopped because there was lots of work that needed to be done for the next 9 days.
Check list: tents, table, chairs, food, lots of food, borrowed tools,
Trailers, military water tank, bobcats, lights, potties, tons of screws, slides, tons of trax wood, coke products and most important VOLUNTEERS! And Donated MONEY,
When the nine days were up, the count was over 4,000 Volunteers and $350,000.00.
Why? Because they all cared and wanted to help the children of Baltimore.
10 years later Our Playground At Stadium Place Playground is a safe place for all children.
Someone did a terrible thing and set our wonderful playground on fire a few years after the first build in 2005. A very sad day, lots of tears, but that bad person was not going to take away the joy of the community. Volunteers came back and rebuilt this awesome play space.
So Today, I want to say Thank you to everyone that had a hand/heart in making it happen.
I will forever be grateful to each one of you.
Happy April 7th day,
The playground lady,
Debra Evans
