The officers and firefighters of Engine Co. 55 and Truck Co. 23 would like to congratulate our very own Justin Higley (Engine 55 C), John Mitcheltree III (Truck 23 C), and Zachary Goldberg (Truck 23 A) on their recent promotions!
FF Higley, who has held the first acting spot on 55 C for over a decade, has been promoted to Pump Operator. FF Mitcheltree and FF Goldberg have both been promoted to Emergency Vehicle Driver.
All three members topped their respective lists, and we couldn’t be more proud of them!
The Pigtown Fire Station is a family, and anytime we lose a member to a promotion, it’s always a strong mix of emotions. While we’re sad to be losing three outstanding firefighters and friends from our companies, we’re excited to see them prosper as they begin the next chapter of their careers within the BCFD.
We wish them nothing but the best and look forward to watching them excel in their new positions.

(B-Shift) This morning, just after 10am, Truck 23 operated on box alarm 14-50. Companies arrived in the 2000blk of McHenry St with fire showing from a 2sty middle of the group row home. Units in the rear had fire from both floors with extension to the roof line of the adjoining houses. The fire was held to the original fire building with only minor extension to the exposures. Engine 55 was detailed downtown for the Sail 250 event and missed the fire.

This morning, members from and came together to clean up the Memorial Garden on Stricker Street. This space holds deep meaning for us—it’s a place of remembrance for Paul, Kelsey, and Kenny, whose lives were lost there, and a reminder of their ultimate sacrifice. Keeping it clean and cared for is one small way we continue to honor them.
We’d also like to thank and for their generous donations and support of this effort.

Companies made quick work of fire in the basement. Engine 55 was closed for lack of apparatus and missed the fire. Thanks to for the action shots.

(B-Shift) Busy day for the men of Truck 23B. On Tuesday, March 17, Truck 23 went second due on Box Alarm 14-1. Engine 36 arrived in the 1800blk of W. Fayette St with fire showing from the first and second floor of a 2sty end of group row home. Truck 23 laddered the rear and assisted Truck 10 with opening the roof. Crews were able to hold the fire to the original fire building with minor extension to the exposure. Around 4am Truck 23 arrived first on rescue alarm on I95N. Crews arrived to find one person trapped and extricated the same. Engine 55 was closed for apparatus and missed both incidents. Thanks to for the photos
