Maryland Board of Nursing The Board operates under the Maryland Nurse Practice Act, set forth in Title 8 of the Health Occupations Article.

Introduction
The Board is the agency charged with the regulatory oversight of the practice of nursing in the State. The Board has the authority to adopt regulations as necessary to carry out provisions of the law. The Board is mandated to regulate the practice of Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), Certified Medication Technicians (CMTs), Certified Dialysis Technicians (DTs), Licensed Electrologists (LEs), Licensed Direct Entry Midwives (DEMs), and Licensed Certified Midwives (CMs).​

UPDATE: Baltimore City has a Code Red Extreme Heat Alert on June 11-12, 2026. A heat advisory has also been issued for Cecil, Prince George's, Anne Arundel, Charles, St. Mary's, Calvert, and Harford counties on June 11, 2026.
