Today we will be spotlighting one of our student interns, Jack Motz !
My name is Jack Motz, a recent graduate of Friends School of Baltimore. I will be attending Tufts University this fall to study economics and international relations. At Friends, I was a head of the finance club, where I, along with my fellow club heads, established a student-managed investment portfolio of $10,000. The goal of this fund was to allow club members to learn principles of investing through real-world experience. I was also a co-founder and club head of the Gratitude Club. The focus of our Gratitude Club was to provide a space where students could explore the benefits of expressing gratitude. We piloted a school-wide study to measure the impact of consistent gratitude journaling on self-reported quality of life, and happiness among our community members.
What drew me to work in Councilwoman Ramos’ office was the chance to learn from and understand the importance of local government. Throughout my time in high school, I developed an interest in public policy and how it shapes our world. I see local government as the purest instance of the impact of policy on our country, as it is the closest legislatures to their constituents. The relationship between a local government and its community is the most intimate in all of American politics. I look forward to the rest of my time in her office, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work here.
