Headline should read:Maryland Attorney General uses taxpayer money to fight for the mutilation of minors.

The Trump administration has finalized a rule that would prohibit federal Medicaid and CHIP reimbursement for gender-affirming care for transgender youth, even though the same healthcare treatment is covered when provided to non-transgender youth. The rule takes effect October 13.

I’m joining a coalition of 22 states in suing to block it. The federal government should not override individualized healthcare decisions made by medical professionals without congressional authorization. My Office will continue defending access to healthcare for Maryland’s transgender youth and their families.
