Stay cool and stay weather-aware, Maryland! A hot, humid, and unsettled weather pattern is moving into the region through Friday, bringing a double-whammy of extreme heat and potential severe storms on Thursday & Friday, between 12:00 PM and 8:00 PM both days.

Temperatures will climb into the 90s, but high humidity will make it feel like 100 to 105 degrees across most of the state. Limit outdoor activities during peak hours, stay hydrated, and never leave pets in parked cars.

A core goal of Longevity Ready Maryland—our state’s 10-year plan to ensure everyone can age with optimal health, financial security, and dignity—is protecting older adults from financial exploitation.

That is why we are thrilled to see St. Mary's Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) featured in Southern Maryland News for putting this strategy into action during Medicare Fraud Prevention Week! The St. Mary's team visited local senior activity centers to share vital, practical tips on how to prevent, detect, and report healthcare fraud.

"Treat it like your bank account, treat it like your credit card. Keep it put away. Don't give it out", the article states in reference to your Medicare number. Read the full article at https://ow.ly/ijjr50Z9xzV

Kudos to the Star Family Community Center and Morning Star Baptist Church, who hosted an impactful brain health and awareness event in partnership with the Memory and Aging Community Advisory Board, Johns Hopkins Memory and Aging Studies, and the Baltimore City Health Department Aging Services division.

As Maryland’s population of older adults grows rapidly, proactive planning is essential to ensure everyone can age with dignity and support, a need beautifully reflected in this event and the mission of Longevity Ready Maryland—the state's plan to build infrastructure, health systems, and communities that support lifelong well-being.

By combining grassroots community trust with world-class medical research and local government action, we are shaping a healthier, more supportive Maryland for everyone!
