In the afternoon of Aug 16th Truck Company 5 (B) went first due to 2002 Boone Street for reports of a dwelling fire. On arrival members had a 3 story row home with smoke showing from the 2nd & 3rd floors and people hanging out of windows & jumping as well as a dog trapped on 3rd floor from this known (occupied) vacant dwelling.
Not by accident nor luck, the members of Truck Company 5 B delivered critical information to incoming units while simultaneously & flawlessly performing basic truck company functions under highest levels of stress.
Ground ladders deployed, jumper caught, forcible entry completed, attack line stretch By Engine Co. 31 to protect the primary search, rescues made, Citizens handed off to EMS providers to keep them alive. This was the epitome of a TEAM effort by members of the Baltimore City Fire Department & truly reflects their training and dedication to our craft.
Daily, we are faced with āvacantā dwellings in our city. this incident highlights the zeal, experience, skill, and decision making abilities expected from those that serve the citizens of Baltimore.
